CDU opens office in India to assist South Asian students wanting to study in Australia

Charles Darwin University (CDU) has taken a big step towards attracting students from South Asia to campuses in the Northern Territory and Sydney, with the opening of a new office in India.

CDU Vice-Chancellor Scott Bowman and delegates from CDU have travelled to India where the official opening occurred.

“Establishing an in-country presence in India is critical to Charles Darwin University and the Northern Territory in achieving our international student growth ambitions,” Professor Bowman said.

“It is a natural progression for Charles Darwin University towards helping attract students from one of the fastest-growing regions of the world, where quality higher education is valued. We are uniquely placed in our ability to offer exceptional graduate employment outcomes.

“This semester Charles Darwin University is delighted to welcome around 1000 new international students, many of whom have travelled from South Asia."

The new office was officially opened by the Hon Jason Clare, Minister for Education, and attended by senior government officials. 

The office will employ six staff and is located in the bustling business district of Gurgaon.

The opening was part of a series of events as a delegation of Australian higher education leaders headed to India to promote collaboration between the two nations.
