This form is used to:

  • Manually assign non-default assessment items to student unit attempts. (Default assessment items are normally automatically assigned to student units by the processes Automatically Maintain Student Unit Attempt Assessment Item (ASSJ3212) and Apply Unit Assessment Item Modification To Student (ASSJ3213)).
  • View details of assessment items assigned to student unit attempts.
  • View assessment items assigned via a unit assessment pattern.
  • Record due date extensions for assignments and other assessment items.

When viewing assessment items assigned to student unit attempts, an assessment item may display an INVALID lamp. This occurs when:

  • The assessment item has been deleted so that it is no longer valid for the students unit offering option; or
  • The assessment item has been deleted from an assessment pattern assigned to the student unit attempt.
  • The assessment pattern (and therefore the assessment item) are no longer valid for the students unit offering option.

For further details on assessment items refer to Attaching Assessment Items to Student Unit Attempts in Assessments for the Subsystem Specialist.

  • Perform query to locate students. Queries can be performed on combinations of any fields except Name, in the Student Unit Attempt block. Select the student.
  • Assign the assessment item to the student unit attempt. This can be achieved by either:
    • Entering a known, valid assessment item ID; or
    • Selecting the required assessment item from the LOV. The LOV lists only valid assessment items for the unit offering.
  • For each assessment item, further details are displayed.
    • Override due date is manually inserted when granting extensions. Where a tracking item exists, the action date for 'Received from Student' is automatically updated.
    • The assessment pattern code displays the assessment pattern through which the assessment item was assigned to the student unit attempt.
    • The percentage apportion displays the percentage of the overall assessment that the assessment item represents within the assessment pattern.
    • The attempt number is defaulted to 1 for each assessment item assigned to a student. This increments automatically for subsequent attempts of this assessment item.
    • Outcomes for individual assessment items can be recorded where available. The System inserts the current date in the Outcome Date field. This can be altered. No System functionality is associated with outcome fields.
    • The deletion date is entered by the System when the assessment item is deleted from the student unit attempt and assessment item queries can be displayed with or without logically deleted items via the Include Deleted Items checkbox.
    • The tracking ID is automatically inserted where Initiate a Tracking Item for the Assignment (ASSJ3610) has been run.
  • The System Assigned checkbox indicates that the assessment pattern was assigned via the process ASSJ3212 or ASSJ3213.
  • Tracking details can be viewed by selecting the Tracking Item button which navigates to Maintain Tracking Items (TRKF2100).
  • Assessment patterns can be manually assigned to student unit attempts by selecting the Student Unit Assessment Pattern button which navigates to the Maintain Student Unit Assessment Pattern form (ASSF3221).

Rules:

  • Assessment items should not be deleted where an outcome has been recorded.
  • Assessment items cannot be assigned where the student unit attempt status is INVALID, or COMPLETE.
  • Override due date cannot be set where the tracking step 'Assignment Received From Student' is completed.
  • Attempt number should not be overwritten. Where an assessment item is to be repeated, the assessment item should be assigned to the student unit again with a new attempt number to reflect this.
