This form is used to:

  • Manually assign non-default assessment patterns and associated items to student unit attempts. (Default assessment patterns are normally automatically assigned to student unit attempts by the processes Automatically Maintain Student Unit Attempt Assessment Item (ASSJ3212) and Apply Unit Assessment Item Modifications To Student (ASSJ3213).
  • View details of assessment patterns assigned to student unit attempts.

An assessment pattern is a grouping of assessment items. Patterns are used primarily in cases where students have some choice of assessment method in a unit. For example, an examination and three assignments, or an examination and a major project. Typically, each student is allocated only one assessment pattern, but multiples are permitted.

When viewing assessment patterns assigned to student unit attempts, an assessment pattern may display an INVALID lamp. This occurs when the assessment pattern is no longer valid for the student unit attempt. Invalid assessment patterns are:

  • Patterns deleted from the unit offerings and not yet updated by ASSJ3213; or
  • Patterns where the location, mode, class or a combination of these, no longer matches the student's unit offering option.

  •  Perform query to locate students. Queries can be performed on combinations of any fields except name, in the Student Unit Attempt block. Select the student.
  • Assign the assessment pattern to the student unit attempt. This can be achieved by either:
    • Entering a known, valid assessment pattern code; or
    • Selecting the Inquire on Assessment Pattern button and navigating to the Inquire on Assessment Pattern form (ASSF2321). In this form, queries can be performed to retrieve valid assessment patterns for the student unit attempt.
  • The System Generated checkbox indicates that the assessment pattern was assigned via the process ASSJ3212 or ASSJ3213.
  • The assessment items assigned to the student unit attempt can be viewed by selecting the Student Unit Assessment Item button which navigates to the Maintain Student Unit Assessment Item form (ASSF3222).

Queries can be performed on student unit assessment patterns. Selecting the Include Deleted Patterns indicator allows previously attached assessment patterns to be displayed for the student unit attempt.

 Rules:

  • Assessment patterns cannot be added to a student unit attempt where the unit assessment pattern restrictions (location, mode and/or class) are in conflict with the unit offering option restrictions.
  • Assessment patterns can only be added to student unit attempts of ENROLLED or UNCONFIRMED.
