Field Descriptions

The following tables describe each field on the PRDW0100 page, including applicable Table values.

An asterisk (*) indicates the field is mandatory.

Field: Description:
*End Date

Enter the number of days, weeks, months, or years, then select a value for the 'after' field. For more information, see the 'after' Field Description, below.

The End Date specified here is used in conjunction with a Precedent's Start Date, which is displayed in the Dates section in the General Details step of a Precedent (PRDW0400), to specify the period of time in which the Precedent is valid (i.e. active).

For example:

  • If the End Date = {2} {days} {Start Date} - then if the Start Date (i.e. a Precedent's creation date) is 23 August 2012, then the End Date will be 25 August 2012 (i.e. two days after the Start Date).

Table Value:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.END_DT_OFFSET_VALUE

*Validity Period End Date

Enter the number of days, weeks, months, or years, then select a value for the 'after' field. For more information, see the 'after' Field Description, below.

The Validity Period End Date specified here is the date after which a Precedent's external course and units are regarded as no longer 'equivalent' to an internal course and units.

This date is normally used in conjunction with the Validity Period Start Date, displayed in the Dates section in the General Details step of a Precedent (PRDW0400).

For example:

  • If the Validity Period End Date = {8} {months} after {Validity Period Start Date} - then if the Validity Period Start Date is 1 January 2013, then the Validity Period End Date will be 1 August 2013 (i.e. eight months after the Validity Period Start Date).

Table Value:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.VALIDITY_END_DT_OFFSET_VALUE

*Next Review Date

Enter the number of days, weeks, months, or years, then select a value for the 'after' field. For more information, see the 'after' Field Description, below.

The Next Review Date entered here is the date by which a Precedent must be reviewed.

This date is used in conjunction with the Last Review Date, which is displayed in the Review section in the General Details step of a Precedent (PRDW0400).

For example:

  • If the Next Review Date = {4} {days} after {Last Review Date} - then if the Last Review Date is 1 January 2013, then the Next Review Date will be 5 January 2013 (i.e. four days after the Last Review Date).

Table Value:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.NEXT_REVIEW_DT_OFFSET_VALUE

Keep Validity Period on Copy
(check box)

If this check box is selected, then the Validity Period Start and End Dates of the source Precedent are retained when using the 'Copy Precedent' function in the Summary Overview step of the Precedent (PRDW0410) page. (That is, the validity period will not be re-calculated when copying an existing Precedent to a new Precedent when this check box is selected.)

If the check box is deselected, the Validity Period Start and End Dates will be calculated for the Copy Precedent funtion in the same way as when creating a new Precedent (i.e. based on the System Date in conjunction with the date configurations specified on this page).

Table values:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.KEEP_VALIDITY_ON_COPY_IND

*Default Precedent Category

Select one of the following Precedent Categories from the field selector:

  • External Course to Internal Course (default)
  • Internal Course to Internal Course
  • External Course to Course Type Group
  • External Unit to Internal Unit
  • Internal Unit to Internal Unit
  • Admission Band to Internal Course
  • External Course to Admission Band

The value you select here will be the default value displayed in the Precedent Category field located on the New Precedent page (i.e. General Details step) when creating a new Precedent (PRDW0400).

Table values:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF. DFLT_PRECEDENT_CATEGORY

Maintain Approval Details

This check box enables institutions to configure whether or not the Approval Date and Approving Staff Member fields are updated to the current date and user details when a Precedent is set from Review to Active.

Table values:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF. APRVL_DTLS_OVRD_IND

Precedent Types block:
Allow Advanced Standing Source Mapping
(check box)

Select this check box to enable an Advanced Standing 'Source' (ADVF1140) to be specified for a Precedent Type of Advanced Standing in the Precedent Types page (PRDW0010) when creating a new Precedent Type.
(Only sources that are mapped to a System Advanced Standing Source of CRDT-TRANS are available for selection.)

Note: Advanced Standing Sources are created in the ADVF1140 form and are used to identify the basis for advanced standing.

This check box only applies to VET and dual-sector institutions. (HE-only institutions are advised not to select this check box.)

Table Value:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF. ADV_STND_SRC_MAPPING_IND

The 'after' field applies to each of the date fields, listed above.

Field: Description:
*after

Select one of the following values from the drop-down list:

  • Start Date - The date on which a Precedent is created.
  • Validity Period Start Date - The date from which a Precedent is valid. This date is normally used in conjunction with the Validity Period End Date (but can be used with the End Date or Next Review Date, instead) to specify the period of time in which an external course and units specified for a Precedent are regarded as 'equivalent' to an internal course and units.
  • Last Review Date - This is null when a Precedent is created. This date is automatically set to the System Date when a Precedent Status is changed from a System Precedent Status of REVIEW to either CLOSED, REJECTED or ACTIVE.

The 'after' value (i.e. Start Date, Validity Period Start Date or Last Review Date) selected for this field for each default date specified above, varies for each Precedent (for example, depending on when the Precedent was first created or reviewed).

Table Values:
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.END_DT_OFFSET_FROM
S_PRECEDENT_ CONF.VALIDITY_END_DT_OFFSET_FROM
S_PRECEDENT_CONF.NEXT_REVIEW_DT_OFFSET_FROM
