PAAW1060 - Choose Section

Table of Contents:

Overview

This page allows you to select only certain sections of a Proposal Type, so that the proposal instance will only be a subset of the the Proposal Type that it is based on. The remainder of the proposal or curriculum item is unaffected and will be transferred.

The availability of Choose Section for a proposal instance is determined by Proposal Type settings in PAAW0200. The range of elements and items available for selection may be affected by the Display When settings and conditions.

After the sections have been selected, these sections will be available for editing in PAAW1100.

Using the Choose Sections page

This page may be accessed while creating a proposal. It will display if you click on a Selection Option for which the 'Include Choose Sections Step' has been selected in PAAW0200.

This page allows you to select and parts of a selected proposal or curriculum item to form the proposal that you are creating. These will form the initial content of the new proposal, and the remainder of the source proposal or curriculum item will be transferred unchanged.

The Menu Title text, recorded for the element in PAAW0200, identifies the element and the display order is as defined for the elements.
To appear on this page, the element (and its superior elements) must have a 'Display When' setting, in PAAW0200, that allows the element to display before submission, and must have the 'Include in Choose Section' check box selected on that page.
Click on any ? icon present to display the Section help recorded for the element in PAAW0200.
See further information relating to Display When and Mandatory When settings and configurations in the 'Display When' and 'Mandatory When' Settings section below,

Initially, the most 'superior' sections and any that are marked as 'Display at Superior Level' are listed in the left hand column on this page and any mandatory sections (as recorded in PAAW0200) are already displayed in the 'Selected for Updating' column. These Mandatory elements cannot be removed from this list.

If you select a section and click the Add button, then this section is added to the 'Selected for Updating' column. In this case details for this section together with any existing subordinate sections will be included in the proposal that you are creating.

In order to add only a part of a section or its subordinate sections, click on the section name and if it is composed of multiple instances, each will display in the column to the right. Those instances, can be added separately, as required, to the Selected for Updating column.

If the Section has subordinate sections (and they do not have the 'Display at the same level as Superior' check box selected in PAAW0200), then these will display in the column to the right of the selected superior element.
Subordinate elements that have the 'Display at the same level as Superior' check box selected, will be displayed under the superior element and can be selected separately from that list.

Click on a single instance element, and its 'Details' (items which make up the element) will be available for display in the column to the right. Clicking on the Expand icon will display the details. Any subordinate elements will be displayed below the 'Details' in this column.

Click on Select Details Only to select just the details for the element (highlighted box) and none of its subordinate elements and click on the Add button.

The Submit Due Date and Final Due Date values derived in PAAW1040 are displayed at the top of the Selected for Updating column.
If the relevant calendar instances do not have dates defined for these date aliases then no dates will display.
If an added element contains an submit due date or final due date override then the Submit Due Date and Final Due Date values will update to correspond with the date aliases defined for the element. A lamp displays temporarily to indicate this.

Notes:

During initial proposal creation, after selecting and adding sections, click on the Save & Continue button to save your changes and open the new proposal in PAAW1100.
The sections added in PAAW1060 will already be included.
Click on the Cancel button to return to PAAW1000 without creating a new proposal.

After initially creating a proposal you can navigate back to PAAW1060 via the Choose Section button in PAAW1100, PAAW1120 (submit), PAAW1120 (review) and PAAW1170.
If returning to this page after initial creation, a Save & Close button is available to commit your changes.

'Display When' and 'Mandatory When' Settings

If an element or item is defined as Mandatory in PAAW0200, then it will be automatically included as an section for the proposal during the selection of sections.

Whether an element or item is mandatory may also be subject to 'Mandatory When' values (defined in PAAW0200).
e.g. If an element or item has a 'Mandatory When' setting of '- Is mandatory before submission for review', then it will be mandatory during the creation of the proposal and will be an automatic selection at that time.

Whether an element or item is mandatory may also be subject to 'Mandatory When' conditions (defined in PAAW0200).
e.g. If an element or item has a 'Mandatory When' condition. i.e. It will only be mandatory when a certain condition is satisfied. So if that condition is met it will be an automatic selection for Choose Sections. Note that a section or item will only be included as mandatory if the section that contains the item that is tested in the condition, is also included in the selected section list.

The display of sections or items in the Choose Sections page is subject to 'Display When' values (as defined in PAAW0200).
e.g. If an element or item has a 'Display When' setting of '- Is displayed for entry once the proposal is submitted for review', then it will not be available for selection in PAAW1060 when the proposal is initially created.

The display of sections or items in the Choose Sections page is also subject to 'Display When' conditions (as defined in PAAW0200).
e.g. An element or item has a 'Display When' condition such that it will only be displayed if the condition is satisfied. This item will not be displayed in PAAW1060 unless a change is made to the item for which the condition applies. i.e. If the item is changed so that it satisfies the condition, then that element or item will be displayed.
