i). New Course
Course Approval Committee
The institution has a BAP called NEW-CRS-APPR, for the approval of new courses. This is mapped to CRV-APROVE in GENF4900.
A Workflow Step (NEW-CRS-APP-WS) for this process is defined in GENF4820.
The Faculty of Science has one of these committees to approve new courses.
The 'NEW-CRS-APPR' BAP is defined in a Sci faculty context and its members including an 'active' member are listed (ORGF0141 > GENF4920).
University Ethics Officer
An Ethics officer may also need to approve new courses across various faculties in the institution.
A BAP called ETHICS-COMMITTEE is created in GENF4910 and the Ethics officer is named as an active member.
Create workflow step ETH-WS and map it to CRV-APROVE (in GEN4820).
Create a workflow (in GENF4830) called CRS-APPR and include the CS-AP-WS step followed by the CRS-ET-WS.
Create a workflow (in GENF4830) called CRS-APPR and include the CS-AP-WS step followed by the CRS-ET-WS.
ii). New Course Version
Where a new course version is created, the faculty course review occurs but the ethics committee is not involved.
Create a workflow (in GENF4830) called NEW-CRS-V and include only the CS-AP-WS step
iii). Updated Course Version
If the course version is updated it is simply approved by the co-ordinator for the course.
Create a BAP code e.g. CRS-UPD mapped to CRV-COORD (in GENF4900).
Assign that BAP to the Course and name the S140 course co-ordinator as its member (CRSF1210 > GENF4920).
Create a workflow step CRS-AP-WS (in GENF4820) and map it to the 'NEW-CRS-AP' BAP
Create a workflow (in GENF4830) called UPD-CRS-APP and include the CRS-UPD-WS.
Define Review Category NEW-CRS-RC (in PAAW0500)
Description = NEW COURSE APPROVAL
System proposal type = COURSE
System proposal outcome NEW-CRS
Amendment Range 200-1000
Workflow = CRS-APPR.
