Related/Dependent Jobs

This job is dependent on the Create Government Submission Snapshot process (STAJ0110) being performed, for the particular submission, first

Run Details

This job is usually run in conjunction with STAJ0020, STAJ0050, STAJ0060, STAJ0070, STAJ0080 and STAJ0090.

The job is run to create an extract file containing details of the courses studied by the institution's students during the current submission year and the previous submission year. The file is created in accordance with the DEST file specification, for loading into DESTPAC.

The process determines the courses to report, by:

  • finding those course offering instances offered in academic periods associated with load calendars which are linked to government semesters, for this and the previous submission year and
  • checking that the course is 'government reportable' (using similar logic to the derivation of the government reportable indicator in the enrolment snapshot process).

Records are created with their data being sourced as follows:

  • Course Code - from course offering instance (course code and version number)
  • Course Name (Full) - from course version
  • Course Name (Abbreviated) - from course version
  • Course Type Code - from course version & course type/government course type mapping
  • Field of Education Code - from course version & field of study/government field of education mapping (only one field of education per course version is recorded)
  • Special Course Type Code - from course version
  • Course Load - from course version (government course load)
  • Field of Education Supplementary Code - from course version (FOE which is not the major FOE)
  • Course of Study Code - inserted by DESTPAC from course code where not specified, otherwise the course of study code attached to the course as a course reference code. Refer to Statistics Subsystem Data Pre-requisites.
  • Course of Study Name - inserted by DESTPAC from course name where not specified, otherwise the course of study name attached to the course as a course reference code. Refer to Statistics Subsystem Data Pre-requisites.
  • Combined Course Indicator - from course version, system course group type ('COMBINED')

These records are stored in the institution specific CO file (with which statistics specialists will be familiar), in a directory specified by the 'KEEP' environment variable. This is a secure directory which users cannot (and do not need to) access.

The process 'Copy Extract Files From Secure Area' (STAJ0120) allows the CO file to be copied from the 'KEEP' directory to an accessible directory, specified by the 'USER' environment variable (refer to your system administrator).

Job Parameters

The single parameter is used to specify the submission for which the job is being run. By specifying a previous submission, an earlier CO file can be reproduced.

Output

Output is in the DEST file specification format.
