This form is used to view the template for a System Self Serve Application. If required, it may also be used to edit Web Application Templates. An application template is an HTML document defining the data and layout of the application. The data displayed and the layout (in table format) can be updated to suit the institution style as required. For example: a particular data item and its prompt could be removed from view, the table attributes could be changed or a horizontal line could be inserted in the template. Important: before modifying a template, a copy of the original template should be saved as a backup. If there are any problems encountered after modifying a template, the backup copy can be used to restore the template. When removing an item from display, both the data item and the prompt need to be removed. It is recommended to use comment tags around the items rather than deleting them. By putting HTML comment tags around the items they are no longer displayed in the web pages but still remain if at a later point institution policy changes and those items are to be displayed. Note: the prompts and data items are those defined for the application in the Maintain Self Serve Application Data form (SSFF1300). The preferred method for updating an application template is to use the Web Application Template screen in the Web Administrator. The HTML code for the application is copied from SSFF1120 and pasted into the Property block for the application (stored as a web element) in Web Administrator. This copy of the code can be freely edited without affecting the System Application Template. The application Web Element in Web Administrator overrides the system application template when displayed. For more details on using the Web Administrator and the System Application Template page see Understanding the Web Administrator. |

Rules/Notes: This form is normally accessed in context off a System Self Serve Application from the Maintain Self Serve Applications form (SSFF1100). It can be accessed via the System Self Serve Application button at the bottom of the block, allowing the user to query an application to view. The Web Application Template shows the HTML code for the application. Once a copy of the template has been saved, changes can be made. For example: the table border could be increased or a prompt and its data item could be commented out. Some of the tags found in the templates are not standard HTML tags. They have been created specifically for use in Callista Connect. To view a list of these codes and their purpose refer to the Callista Connect technical information located in the Callista Product Centre (wiki.callista.com.au/display/CPC). |
