Overview

This page enables you to create and manage promotion discounts. Promotion discounts reduce the tuition fees payable for a student course attempt - the reduction is defined as a percentage of the tuition fee. A promotion discount can have a range of conditions associated with it, such as validity dates and course offering options. There are three different categories of promotion discount that can be created:

• INDIVIDUAL promotion discounts can be offered to specific individuals.
• AGENCY promotion discounts can be offered to specific agencies.
• GENERIC promotion discounts are used when the targeting of particular individuals or agencies is not required.

This page can be opened directly from the Callista menu.

Navigation

A list of promotion discounts are displayed on entry to this page.

Click on the Promo ID to open the Edit screen for that promotion discount record.

Click on the New toolbar icon to create a new promotion discount record.

In the New/Edit promotion discount screens:

• Click on the Undo Edits toolbar button to undo any changes made since the record was last saved.
• Click on th Delete toolbar button to delete the current promotion discount record. It's not possible to delete a promotion discount if it has been claimed.
• Click on the Save button to save your changes and stay with that record.
• Click on the Save & Close button to save your changes and return to the list of Promotion Discounts.
• Click on the Cancel button to return to the list of Promotion Discounts without saving your changes.

Field Descriptions

Promotion Discount List

A complete list of promotion discounts are displayed on initial entry to this page. The table below shows the default order of the columns. This list can be searched using the initial fields displayed or the Additional Search fields available. See Working with Lists for general information about lists.

Options in the View menu allow you to change the columns displayed and reorder them.
If Oracle Meta Data Services (MDS) features are enabled in your system, when you exit from FINW0100 the current array of columns is retained and will be displayed upon re-entry to this page. For more details regarding MDS, refer to the most recent JSF Upgrade Guide in the Callista Product Centre on the Callista wiki.

Additional fields for AGENCY Promotion Discounts

Additional fields are displayed for promotion discounts with the AGENCY discount category. These allow the selection of Agencies for which the promotion discount is available.

Additional fields for INDIVIDUAL Promotion Discounts

Additional fields are displayed for promotion discounts with the INDIVIDUAL discount category, to allow the selection of individuals for which the promotion discount is available.

Applicant Portal Application fields

In addition to recording an individual for an individual promotion discount there is also the option to add an applicant portal application on behalf of that individual.
Once an individual has been recorded against a promotion discount an Add Application link becomes available. Note that the record must be saved before the link becomes active.

Creating Promotion Discounts

Select the New option from the list toolbar in FINW0100 to create a new promotion discount.

• Specify a Promo ID and Description
• Specify the Discount(%)
• Select a Citizenship Type value
• Select a Promotion Discount Category
• Record a Validity Start Date to define when the promotion discount will become available.

The following field values are optional:

• Explanation - to provide more information in applicant portal
• Validity End Date - if there is cut off date after which the promotion discount is no longer available.
• Course Offering Course Code, Location, Attendance Mode, Attendance type values - to define conditions on the
• 'Terms and Conditions' link - This link will be used for displaying the terms and conditions while adding the Promo ID in applicant portal.
• Reference Field to record any relevant notes.
  
  
• Click on the Save button.

When creating a promotion discount with a discount category of AGENCY, a section will appear in the bottom of the page where Agencies can be added and removed. 
Click on the Add Agency link to display the section.

Either the Agency Org Unit Code or name (Description) can be typed into the input field when adding an Agency. As the input field is being populated the system will automatically show and filter available options from which to select. Alternatively the user can click on the icon and the Search and Select: Agency pop up will appear.

By clicking on the icon a new row is created in which an Agency can be added.
By clicking on the icon, an agency is removed and they will not be able to claim the promotion discount anymore. However removing an agency is not possible if they have already claimed the promotion discount.
The Limit field provides an option to restrict the number of promotion discounts individual agencies can claim. It is an optional field and limits can be allocated in any combination amongst agencies as long as the sum of the limits is less than the overall limit for the promotion discount.

• When creating a promotion discount with a discount category of INDIVIDUAL, a section will appear in the bottom of the page where individuals can be added and removed.
• Click on the Add Individual link to display a blank record. An email address must be provided but the name is optional. When an applicant claims an Individual promotion discount, the recorded email will be validated against the email of the Applicant Portal account. It is therefore important that the recorded email is the same as the email that the applicant will use as part of their Applicant Portal account.
• To create an Applicant Portal Application for the individual, click on the Add Application link and fill in details in the pop up.
• Click on the icon to remove the individual or the icon to add another individual.
  
• By pressing the icon an individual is removed and will not be able to claim the promotion discount anymore. However if an individual has already claimed the promotion discount, then it is not possible to remove them.
• By clicking on the Add Applicant link, a creation pop up appears in which a new Applicant Portal application can be created. When this occurs, an Applicant ID is displayed next to the individual and the Applicant ID is also the default password for the newly created Applicant Portal Account.
• This application is not complete. To finalise it, the applicant must log into the applicant portal and provide additional information.  

• In FINW0100, select the promotion discount record that you wish to copy.
• Click on the Copy button in the toolbar.
  A new promotion discount record is created with details from the original already filled in.
• Change any details if required and record a Promo ID for this new record.
• Add individuals or Agents if required.
• Click on the Save & Close button.

• In FINW0100, select the promotion discount record that you wish to delete.
• Click on the Delete button in the toolbar.
