The Unit Search Application

The Unit Search Application (UNIT-SRCH) is an option accessed via the Student Unit Attempt Update Application (SUA-UPD). The application allows the user to search for unit offering options according to the criteria entered.

When entering a search, wildcards (%) can be used in fields such as Unit Code, Unit Title and Enrolled Credit Points. For many of the other options, LOV's are available from which choices can be selected.

The Show All Units check box will display all unit offering options that meet the search criteria regardless of whether the SSF Avail checkbox is checked or not for the unit. Units that do not have the SSF Avail check box set are displayed as 'read-only' units in the UOO-SELECT application.

Once the parameters have been inserted the Get Units button is selected.

Units retrieved that match the search criteria are displayed in the unit offering option select application (UOO-SELECT). See below for details on customising the display of retrieved unit offering options.

A user has the ability to search by unit code(s) or by using advanced search options.

The Advanced Unit Search function allows a user to search for a Unit based on Unit Title, Unit Level, Enrolled Credit Point, Academic Period, Teaching Period, Campus, Class, and/or Faculty/School.

The Shopping Cart displays a Basic Unit Search text field and a link to the Advanced Unit Search function.

Enhancements to the existing Unit Search function include:

Customising the Display of Unit Offering Options Retrieved

The number of unit offering options retrieved and the number displayed per page in the Unit Offering Option Application are controlled by SSFF1100 (Maintain Self Serve Applications).

In SSFF1100, the Maximum Selection Number defines the number of unit offering options that can be retrieved for the unit search. If the number is reached and the search application has not finished, the search is stopped and a message is reported to the user suggesting they refine their search criteria.

The Maximum Display Selection Number defines the number of unit offering options to be displayed per page in the unit offering option select application. For example: if the number has been set to 10 and the unit search retrieved 23 unit offering options, 10 of these unit offering options are displayed per page.
