The Unit Offering Option Select Application

The Unit Offering Option Select Application (UOO-SELECT) is displayed to the user when they have performed a unit search (UNIT-SRCH) as part of their student unit attempt update.

The application displays the unit offering options retrieved according to the search criteria entered in the unit search application.

Beside each available Unit Offering Option, ADD or MODIFY and RESET radio buttons can be selected. The ADD or MODIFY button is used to select a unit offering option for inclusion in the user's Student Course Attempt. The appearance of the ADD or MODIFY depends on the context in which the application has been entered. For example: if there is not a valid ADD-UNIT Cohort Process Window, only the MODIFY and RESET options are available. If there is only one valid unit offering option available for a unit, the MODIFY option is not displayed.

The RESET button is used where a unit offering option has been selected as ADD and the user has decided not to ADD this unit offering option before selecting the COMMIT button.

Radio buttons have been used rather than check boxes as they prevent the user from selecting more than one option of the same unit at a time. For example: a unit search has retrieved unit ABC123 options at MELB and SYDN and unit XYZ789 at ADEL. A user can select unit XYZ789 and they can select either ABC123/MELB or ABC123/SYDN. They cannot select both ABC123/MELB and ABC123/SYDN.

Validations Performed During Processing

When a user attempts to commit the additions/modifications several validations are performed to ensure the selected unit offering options can be applied to the user's Student Course Attempt. These checks are:

Customising the Display of Unit Offering Options Retrieved

The number of unit offering options retrieved and the number displayed per page are controlled by SSFF1100 (Maintain Self Serve Applications).

In SSFF1100, the Maximum Selection Number defines the number of unit offering options that can be retrieved for the unit search. If the number is reached and the search application has not finished, the search is stopped and a message is reported to the user suggesting they refine their search criteria.

The Maximum Display Selection Number defines the number of unit offering options to be displayed per page. For example: if the number has been set to 10 and the unit search retrieved 23 unit offering options, 10 of these unit offering options are displayed per page.

Read-Only Unit Offering Options

When the UNIT-SRCH application retrieves unit offering options, it retrieves all the unit offering options that meet the search criteria where the Show All Units checkbox is selected. Not all of these unit offering options can be selected by the user. Some of the unit offering options can be displayed as 'read-only'.

A unit offering option is displayed as 'read-only' if any of the following conditions occur:

Advanced Unit Search

Advanced Unit Search functions include:

Currently, a specified number of unit offerings that match a specific search criterion are displayed per page, with PREVIOUS and NEXT being displayed at the bottom of the search results page.

The search display functionality is enhanced to allow institutions to configure all results to be displayed on a single search results display page.
Single page display are controlled by setting a value in “Maximum Selection Number” and entering the same value in the “Maximum Display Selection Number field.

Multi page display are controlled by setting a value in “Maximum Selection Number” and no value or a lower value in “Maximum Display Selection Number” field in SSFF1100 UOO-SELECT.

If no values are set in these fields, there are default values of 200 and 25 for the respective fields (these are set in the program code).

The PREVIOUS link are displayed for the first page of results, just as the NEXT link are not displayed for the last page.

“PREVIOUS and NEXT” functionality has been removed and replaced with functionality implemented in “Staff Connect” Search Results Application which allows a user to specify the number of results to be returned on each page.
