An investigation into issues affecting Yolŋu people living under the stars in the Darwin area. Download pdf
The ANZ bank and Traditional Credit Union (TCU) have delivered a Financial Literacy Project. The project was piloted in two remote Indigenous communities where the TCU have branches. Charles Darwin University (CDU) was engaged as part of the project to provide an independent evaluation of the first eighteen months of the project which began in 2006. As part of the evaluation Indigenous consultants from both communities, working with Trevor van Weeren of Merri Creek Productions, were invited to develop a methodology for engaging the community and seek responses from participants in the project and also explore wider issues of money, money management and banking products and services in their communities.
A draft was workshopped with the consultants and TCU staff in March 2008. The final draft of the report is being finalised with TCU-ANZ and we hope to get permission to publish it here soon.
The final report is available here Final TCU Financial Literacy Project Evaluation (pdf)
As part of the community consultation process the Indigenous consultants were interviewed and recorded to document what had happened and discuss the findings of the focus groups and interviews. These interviews are presented below
A Poster was developed and distributed back to communities to provide feedback about the consultancy. Download the full poster (A3)
