Request

Explanation

NOTE: To set up a schedule for standing requests, use the form Maintain Standing Request Frequency (JBSF5211).

As part of defining a job request, users must set up a schedule before submitting the request. The system organises for job(s) within the request to run in accordance with the dates and times in this schedule.

This form is accessed via the Request Schedule navigation button on the central request form, Maintain Request Details (JBSF5210).

This block is for information only, and holds request context details carried from the central request form. It is possible to access a pop-up window to see the intervals (set of times) when the request's run window is active.

Example

Details of request number 115, created in the Maintain Request Details form, are shown in this block. Request number 115 contains one job producing a report. The schedule dates and times entered in the block below relate to this request.

To view the intervals for the request's run window, using the Maintain Request Schedule form:

  1. Using the icon alongside the Run Window field, access the pop-up window called Inquire On Run Windows (JBSF4411), and follow the documentation for that form.

Rules:

  • The run window cannot be modified in any way in this form.

Request Schedule

Explanation

The date(s) and time(s) entered in this block form the schedule for running the job or jobs contained in the request detailed in the block above. A job (or set of jobs) in a request can be scheduled to run on more than one occasion, by creating a date and time record for each occasion.

A date can be entered as an absolute date, or selected from date alias instances displayed in a pop-up window.

Example

In this block, the user enters dates and times making up the schedule for the report job in request 115. He wants to produce this report on a definite date, and again on the government census date immediately following. To do this he creates two records:

  1. For the first, he enters the date 20/8/98 directly into the Date field. Since the request has been set up to run in an after-hours run window, he enters 18:00 in the Time field.
  2. For the next occurrence, he accesses the pop-up window and finds the next census date (which is 31/8/98) by performing a query in that window. The system inserts this date in the Date Alias Instance field, and he completes the schedule record by entering 18:00 hours as the required time.

To create a new request schedule record using the Maintain Request Schedule Details form:

In Insert mode:

  1. Position the cursor in a blank record.
  2. Supply a schedule date using either Method 1 or Method 2.
    • Method 1
Enter a date by keying directly in the Date field, or by using the calendar icon and selecting a date in the
      electronic calendar.
    • Method 2
Select a date using the date alias icon to access the Inquire On Date Alias Instance form (CALF7510). Follow instructions given for that form. On return to this block, the system inserts the selected date in the Date Alias Instance field.
  1. Enter a time in 24-hour format.
  2. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to create further schedule dates.
  3. Save.

Rules:

  • There can only be one date per record.
  • A date can be keyed using a variety of formats, including: 03/03/1998, 3-3-98, 3.3.98.
  • A time must be keyed in 24-hour format. Examples of accepted formats for 6 p.m. are 18:00, 18.0, 18-0.
  • Note that keying in 18:3 is recognised by the system as 18:03.
  • The system checks, when the request is submitted, that at least one date/time is in the future.
