CRSF1950 - Maintain Course Learning Outcomes

Purpose

To create and maintain Course Learning Outcomes.

This form is used to record and maintain the set of Learning Outcomes that will be displayed as in separate column headings for a course version in CRSW3000.
The Learning Outcomes for a course are completely flexible. Their content, level of detail and relationship to each other can be determined by and institution's policies and requirements.

This form is reached by clicking on the Learning Outcomes button for a Course Version in CRSF1210.

 

The Course Version block contains:

  • Course Code
  • Version Number
  • Course Status
  • Title

The Course Learning Outcomes block contains:

  • ID
  • Description
  • Closed indicator
Rules/Notes:

The Course Version block contains details for the Course Version for which the Course Learning Details are defined.

To Create a New Course Learning Outcome:

  • Query for the Course Version in CRSF1210.
  • Click on the Other Course Detail button in CRSF1210.
  • Click on the Learning Outcomes button to open CRSF1950.
  • Locate the cursor in an empty record (or click the Add Record button in the menu).
  • Optionally record an identifier for the Learning Outcome in the ID field.
  • Record text in the Course Learning Outcomes block. - Mixed case permitted
  • Record text for the Learning Outcome in the Description field and then save.

Rules/Notes:

The ID field can contain up to 10 characters and is recorded by the user.
This value is optional and can be used to order or categorise the learning outcomes.
A learning outcome could, for instance, have a value of 'SKILL 1' to identify that it is a skill that is obtained by students completing this course.

The ID is included with the Description text in the outcome framework CRSW3000 to form part of the Course Learning Outcome record displayed in CRSW3000. i.e. it is included ahead of the Description text (described below) with a hyphen and spaces automatically included to aid readability.
e.g. If ID is 'SKILL 1' and Description is 'Complete routine activities' this will display in CRSW3000 as:
'SKILL 1 - Complete routine activities
'.

To Modify a Course Learning Outcome:

  • Find the record to be modified.
  • Modify the record as required.
  • Save.

Rules/Notes:

Learning Outcome records can be updated. When this occurs, data is inserted into the LEARNING_OUTCOME_HIST table to maintain a record of the changes.
A Learning Outcome record can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.

To Delete a Course Learning Outcome

  • Query for the Course Version in CRSF1210
  • Click on the Other Course Detail button in CRSF1210.
  • Click on the Learning Outcomes button to open CRSF1950.
  • Find the record to be deleted.
  • Locate the cursor in the Learning Outcomes record to be deleted.
  • Delete record.
  • Save.

Rules/Notes:

If a Course Learning Outcome has had other Learning Outcomes mapped to it in CRSW3000, then it cannot be deleted. It can be closed however, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.
