Course Version

The Course Version block (context block) displays the current Course Version record (context record) from the Maintain Basic Course Details form. The displayed records in the Course Categorisation block are the Course Categories which have been assigned to the context record.

For example, if Course Version A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x is selected in the Maintain Basic Course Details form, the Other Course Details navigation button is selected and the Course Categorisation navigation button is selected from the displayed navigation buttons, then this form will display A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x as the context record and any existing Course Categorisations relating to this Course Version will be displayed.

Course Categorisation

Previously created categories may be assigned to a Course Version for the purpose of grouping Course Versions.

Course Categories can be used for specific purposes within the Statistics subsystem. Documentation of this in Statistics Subsystem Data Pre-requisites should be reviewed when setting up this subsystem.

For example, Undergraduate, Non-Award and Corporate could be examples of Course Categories.

The Course Categorisation block is found in CRSF1210, via the Other Course Details button and clicking on Course Categories.

The Course Version block contains:

  • Course Code
  • Version Number
  • Course Status
  • Title

The Field Of Study block contains:

  • Course Category
  • Description
  • Default

Rules/Notes:

Assigning a Course Category to a Course Version permits the Course Version to be grouped with other Course Versions of the same category.

The Default check box is used to indicate that this Course Category is to be used during Fee Assessment. Only one Category can be marked as the default.
Note: This check box will only be used in assessing VET capped fees.

Validations:

  • No more than one Course Category can be marked as the default for the course categorisation.

To inquire on the Course Categorisations of a Course Version other than that initially displayed:

This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:

  • Return to the Maintain Basic Course Details form.
  • Select the Course Version for which Course Categorisation records are required.
  • Select the button for Other Course Detail.

To assign a Course Category to a Course Version using the Maintain Course Categorisations form:

Course Category Overrides for Course Offering Instance records are maintained in the Maintain COI Categories Override form (CRSF1530).

CLOSED Course Categories cannot be assigned to a Course Version.

Course Categories cannot be altered once the Course Version has been made INACTIVE.

To modify a Course Category for a particular Course Version using the Maintain Course Categorisations form:

Rules/Notes:

Fields in the Course Categorisation block are protected from modification. Modification of Course Categorisations can only be achieved by adding new Course Categories and deleting old Course Categories.
