In the Course Structure and Planning subsystem, all study units are assigned to a Discipline Group defined by the institution in form CRSF2230, and these in turn are associated with Government Discipline Groups (DEST Element Reference 464) in form CRSF2110.

In this form the Government Discipline Groups are matched to Discipline Bands representing different Commonwealth rates. For those students who are to be assessed for differential costs, the fee assessment routine (FINJ3500, FINJ3001) uses this information to determine the appropriate Discipline band - and therefore rate - according to the Government Discipline Group of each unit a student is studying. The actual rates are associated with Discipline Bands in the form Define Fee Assessment Rates (FINF2853).

The Discipline Band block contains:

  • Discipline Band
  • Description
  • Closed check box

The Government Discipline block contains:

  • Govt Discipline Group Code
  • Description
  • Start Date
  • End Date

Rules/Notes:

The ability to assign a discipline code to multiple bands.

For each Discipline Band (there are currently four - 2004) assign Government Discipline Groups in accordance with DEST guidelines.

Start Date and End Date indicate the period during which a discipline group is effective in a Discipline band. The start date defaults to the current date, and the end date can be left open.

Rules/Notes:

This form allows the user to assign a Government Discipline Group Code to mulitple Discipline Bands. The user can then concurrently manage two Commonwealth supported models.

Discipline band records cannot be deleted once they have been associated with a Fee Assessment Rate. Close them to prevent further use.

Amend the set of Discipline Groups in a band by adding new Government Discipline Group Codes and/or by end dating those no longer associated with the band.
