Careers at CDU

Equity, diversity and inclusion

CDU is dedicated to nurturing an inclusive community, which celebrates diversity, promotes equality, and maintains a working, learning and social environment where the rights and dignity of all its staff and students are respected, and where everyone feels they belong.

We are committed to creating a community where all staff and students are encouraged to speak up, challenge the status quo and explore different perspectives knowing that different views can be respectfully and robustly debated, and where students and staff feel safe to contribute and achieve their aspirations.

First Nations Australians

CDU is committed to being globally recognised for First Nations leadership, through developing and supporting innovative programs to:

  • improve First Nations’ students participation in our university, outlined in CDU's First Nations Leadership Core Plan.
  • increase First Nations' staffing profile, in line with CDU's First Nations Workforce Plan 2023-2026.
  • create and maintain culturally-enriched, and culturally-safe environments for First Nations staff and students.
  • learn in partnership with First Nations students, staff, and community.
  • increase CDU’s First Nations’ staffing profile.

We are committed to building and nurturing strong strategic partnerships and relationships with First Nations communities across the Northern Territory, Australia, and the world.

CDU is a proud supporter of the Australian Human Rights Commission's 'Racism. It stops with me.' campaign.

Women

Business women

CDU is committed to gender equity, developing our talent pipelines by attracting and recruiting more academic and professional women, improving the representation of women in senior and leadership positions, and providing professional and development opportunities for all women.

We are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all women to study and achieve their academic and professional aspirations. CDU’s leadership is committed to leading the way and will be accountable for ensuring that we achieve gender equity.

The university reports to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency every year, as required by law. The Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 requires all non-public sector employers with 100 or more employees to submit a report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

Organisations tendering for government contracts may need to satisfy a requirement to be compliant with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.  Our compliance letter fulfils this requirement.   Please find CDU's WGEA Compliance Letter (PDF, 169.66 KB) for the 2023-2024 reporting period.

Culturally and Racially Marginalised People

We are committed to creating and maintaining a culturally competent community where all people can thrive and their cultural and linguistic diversity is actively celebrated. We are committed to actively addressing all structural and cultural barriers faced by students, academic and professional staff, and visitors.

We have zero-tolerance for racism and discrimination. We work to empower all our staff and students to appreciate and value diverse perspectives, including global perspectives in their work and studies here.

CDU is a proud supporter of the Australian Human Rights Commission's 'Racism. It stops with me.' campaign.
