Government Course Attendance Type

Explanation

Universities are required to report to government statistics concerning courses offered and enrolments in courses. These statistics include the attendance type of each enrolled student. This is recorded as the Government Attendance Type (element 330) specified in the Data Dictionary of the DEST manual. Where a set of institution defined attendance types has been defined (CRSF1170), each must be mapped to a particular Government attendance type.

To create a new Government attendance type record using the Maintain Government Course Attendance Types form:

  1. Enter Insert Mode.
  2. Enter the new DEST code in the Govt Attendance Type field of a blank record.
  3. Enter the corresponding description for the DEST code in the Description field.
  4. Save.

 

To delete a Government attendance type record using the Maintain Government Course Attendance Types form:

  1. Find the record to be deleted.
  2. Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted.
  3. Delete record.
  4. Save.

Rules:

  • If a Government attendance type has been assigned to a institution defined attendance type, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.

To modify a Government attendance type record using the Maintain Government Course Attendance Types form:

  1. Find the record to be modified.
  2. Modify the record as required.
  3. Save.

Rules:

  • A Government attendance type should only be modified where the change is to correct an incorrectly entered description. A new Government attendance type should normally be created, in accordance with DEST specifications.
  • A Government attendance type can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.

Changes within this form will have the following notable effects:

  • Adding a Government attendance type permits its use in the definition of an institution defined attendance type and hence for DEST statistical reporting.
