Subsystem

Job Control and Scheduling

This interface utilises the parameter collection procedure of the Reports facility. Each Job and report has its own unique parameter form.

Runtime Parameter Form

Explanation

Parameter forms are the means by which the parameters for a report or job are recorded. They may be Forms Runtime parameter forms or Reports Runtime parameter forms. Note that Reports Runtime parameter forms are now obsolete and any still remaining will be gradually converted. The type of parameter form used is recorded against each report and job in JBSF4110. There are differences in appearance and operation of the two parameter form types. This documentation refers only to Forms Runtime parameter forms The instructions given here are specific to recording parameters for jobs within requests. Refer to All About Standard Reports and Jobs for more general information. In Job Scheduler, control remains with the Job Control and Scheduling subsystem once parameters have been recorded and saved.

Parameter forms are accessed via the Job Parameters navigation button in the Maintain Request Details (JBSF5210) form, and the user is returned to that form after parameters have been collected.

To record parameters for a job forming part of a request, using the Runtime Parameters Form:

  1. Enter/select the desired parameters, or retain the default parameters.
  2. Save.
  3. Once the parameters have been saved, exit the form. The parameter collection form is closed, returning to the Maintain Request Details form (JBSF5210).

Rules:

  • The steps given here to 'run' the parameter facility must be followed even when the default parameters are retained.
  • The Run buttons in the parameter form toolbar are disabled when parameter forms are entered through Job Scheduler.
