Person ID Type |
Explanation |
This form is used to record and maintain the institution defined set of alternative person identification code types. A person will have a SIS identification number and may have other identification codes which relate to other systems or organisations. The person ID type identifies the purpose of the other identification codes. Person ID types can be mapped to System person ID types and institution codes. Functionality associated with System person ID types then applied to mapped institution defined person ID types. Associating an institution code identifies the institution in which the person ID type applies. |
Example |
A person may be both a student and a staff member of the institution. On this system they will have an identification number which is their student number. The person's staff number can also be recorded as an alternative person ID. A person ID type STAFF (or similar) could be used to label all of the alternative person IDs of people in the System, which are staff numbers. i.e. They can then be distinguished from other alternative person ID types. |
