Unit Version

Explanation
The Unit Version block (context block) displays the current unit version record (context record) from the Maintain Basic Unit Details form. The displayed records in the Teaching Responsibility block are the organisational units responsible for teaching the context unit version record.
Example
When a unit is displayed in the Maintain Basic Unit Details form, the Other Unit Details button selected and the teaching Responsibility navigation button selected, then this form will display that same unit as the context record and any existing teaching responsibility records relating to this record will be displayed.

To inquire on the teaching responsibilities of a unit version other than that initially displayed:
This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:
  1. Return to the Maintain Basic Unit Details form.
  2. Select the unit version for which teaching responsibilities are required.
  3. Select the navigation button for Other Unit Details.
  4. Select the navigation button for Teaching Responsibility.

Teaching Responsibility

Explanation
This form is used to record the organisational unit(s) responsible for teaching a unit version. In practise, most unit versions will have one or at most two responsible organisational units. An organisational unit will usually be a faculty, school or centre.
Example
A unit AAC131 - Perspectives in Music can be recorded as being the responsibility of an organisational unit 0404 - School of performing Arts.

To assign responsibility for the teaching of a unit version using the Maintain Teaching Responsibility form:
  1. Enter Insert Mode.
  2. Select the organisational unit which you wish to associate with the unit version from the list of values (or enter a valid value) in the Org Unit Code field of a blank record.
  3. If the unit version is to belong to more than one organisational unit, enter the proportion of the responsibility for teaching this unit version to be allocated to this organisational unit (as a percentage) in the Percentage field. If the unit version belongs to only one organisational unit, enter 100 in the Percentage field.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 if the unit version belongs to more than one organisational unit.
  5. Save.
Rules:
  • Teaching responsibilities cannot be altered if the unit status has been made INACTIVE.
  • The total of the percentage responsibility values for all the organisational units assigned to a unit version must equal exactly 100.
  • Only ACTIVE organisational units are displayed in the list of values.
To modify a teaching responsibility of a unit version using the Maintain Teaching Responsibility form:
Rules:
  • The Org Unit Code, Org Start Date and Description fields are protected against update. It is not possible to modify existing records in this form other than to adjust their percentages if a record has been added or deleted. A teaching responsibility can, however, be deleted from a unit version.
To delete a teaching responsibility from a unit version using the Maintain Teaching Responsibility form:
  1. Ensure that the correct unit version is displayed in the Unit Version block.
  2. Select the desired teaching responsibility (ie. Org Unit Code) record.
  3. Delete record.
  4. Adjust the percentages of any remaining records so that they total exactly 100.
  5. Save.
Rules:
  • Following the deletion of a teaching responsibility, the total of the percentage values for all the remaining teaching responsibilities assigned to the unit version must be adjusted to equal exactly 100.
