Course Offering Pattern

Explanation
The Course Offering Pattern block (context block) displays the current course offering pattern (context record) from the Maintain Course Offering Patterns form. The displayed records in the Course Offering Pattern Note block are the notes for the context record.
Example
If a course offering pattern is selected in the Maintain Course Offering Pattern form and the Course Offering Pattern Notes navigation button is selected, then this form will display the course offering pattern as the context record and any existing notes relating to this offering pattern will be displayed.


To inquire on the course offering pattern notes of an offering pattern other than that initially displayed:
This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:
  1. Re-query the course version and/or the course offering and/or the course offering instance and/or the course offering pattern.
  2. Navigate back to the Maintain Course Offering Pattern Notes form.


Course Offering Pattern Note

Explanation
This function allows additional information to be attached to course offering patterns in the form of notes. Notes of many types may be created, each type reflecting the common purpose of the notes associated with it.

Notes may be created, stored and retrieved in almost any format. The currently available formats are:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Text
  • Other OLE (permitting virtually any other format)

Note:

  • standards established by the institution should be used to determine to which data notes should be attached. Notes may be attached to data at the following levels:
    • Course Version
    • Course Offering
    • Course Offering Option
    • Unit Version
    • Unit Offering
    • Unit Offering Pattern
    • Unit Offering Option
Example
Notes of type HANDBOOK could be created to record notes for publishing in a University handbook.
