Explanation Universities are required to report to government statistics concerning courses offered and enrolments in courses. These statistics include the attribute Discipline Group (element 336). The Government allocates unique codes to group units of study into like disciplines within branches of learning. Where a set of institution defined disciplines has been defined (CRSF2110), each must be mapped to a particular Government Discipline Group. |

To create a new Government Discipline Group record using the Maintain Government Discipline Groups form:

To delete a Government Discipline Group record using the Maintain DEET Discipline Groups form:

Rules/Notes: If a Government Discipline Group has been assigned to an institution defined discipline, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. A Government Discipline Group cannot be closed if any disciplines which map to it are OPEN. |
To modify a Government Discipline Group record using the Maintain Government Discipline Groups form:

Rules/Notes: A Government Discipline Group should only be modified where the change is to correct an incorrectly entered description. A new Government Discipline Group should normally be created, in accordance with Government specifications. A Government Discipline Group can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
