Student Course Special Requirement

This form is used to record details of Special Requirements undertaken by the student towards the completion of their Course Attempt.

Special Requirements are typically external courses a student may be required to undertake in order to complete their Course Attempt. For example: students studying Physical Education may require the completion of a level 2 St John Ambulance or Red Cross First Aid Certificate as part of their course. Students would undertake this study outside of their regular study hours.

With the introduction of progression rules (Callista release 1.4), a Student's Course Attempt can be checked to ensure Special Requirements are completed before approving course completion.

The form is typically entered via the Special Requirements button in the Course Attempt screen in the Record Enrolments form (ENRF3000). The form may also be entered via a menu or zoom.

When entering the form through ENRF3000, the student Course Attempt details are displayed in context. Queries cannot be performed on Student Course Attempts in this entry method. Queries can be performed on Student Course Attempt where the form has been entered via a menu.

The Student Course Attempt block contains:

  • Person ID
  • Sex
  • Date Of Birth
  • Course Attempt Status
  • Course Code

The Student Course Special Requirement block contains:

  • Special Requirement
  • Completed Date
  • Expiry Date
  • Reference
  • Description
  • Comments

Rules/Notes:

Special Requirements can be added to a Student's Course Attempt in two ways:

  • By entering a known Special Requirement Code; or
  • By selecting a Special Requirement from the LOV.

The System inserts the current date into the Completed Date field. Completed Date can be set to a previous date where required.

The Expiry Date (optional) is the date a Special Requirement Qualification, with a fixed lifespan, expires. Where course or progression rules require a 'current' Special Requirement Qualification, the Expiry Date is used to confirm this.

The Reference field can be used to record further information about the Special Requirement. For example: license or permit numbers.

Rules/Notes:

A Special Requirement cannot be recorded with the same code as an existing Special Requirement that has not expired.

A Special Requirement cannot be recorded with the same code as an existing Special Requirement where the date ranges overlap.
