Purpose

To enable the recording and maintenance External Study Loan Scheme details.

Use this form to create, modify or delete External Study Loan Scheme details for a particular Loan Scheme.

Such details include the Loan Fee Percentage, which is defined using a rule. As well as this, maximum and minimum loan amounts can be recorded.

Over time, existing records can be end-dated and new details recorded. Thereby a history of values can be maintained

External Study Loan Scheme records can only be defined for Loan Schemes that have Loan Scheme Government Student Status value of 240, 241 or 242, as defined in FINF1S00.
For External Study Loan Schemes, a Student Status value is used as a way of recognising the various types of loan scheme. The statuses referred to here are defined in ENRF0162, but do not relate to student statuses recorded for a Student Course Attempt in ENRF3110

Typically:
Student Status 241 refers to Asian Studies OS-HELP
Student Status 242 refers to Asian Study Language Supplement OS-HELP loan schemes
Student Status 240 refers to External Study Loan schemes other than these.

The Loan Scheme block contains:

• Loan Scheme (LOV)
• System Loan Scheme Type

The External Study Loan Scheme block contains:

• Start Date
• End Date
• Minimum Loan Amount
• Maximum Loan Amount
• Loan Fee Rule number (LOV)
• Description
• Rule Text
• Comments

Rules/Notes:

The Description, Rule Text and Comments values are inherited with the Loan Fee Rule Number and cannot be modified.

External Study Loan Scheme records can only be defined for Loan Schemes that have Loan Scheme Government Student Status value of 240, 241 or 242..

Creating an External Study Loan Scheme record for a Loan Scheme:

• Query for the required Loan Scheme
• Navigate to a blank External Study Loan Scheme record
• Enter a Start Date value
• Record a Minimum Loan Amount value if required
• Record a Maximum Loan Amount value
• Select a Loan Fee Rule Number
• Save

Rules/Notes:

External Study Loan Scheme records defined for the same Loan Scheme cannot have overlapping start and end dates.

Start Date, Maximum Loan Amount and Loan Fee Rule Number values are mandatory.

If a Minimum Loan Amount is recorded, it must be less than or equal to the Maximum Loan Amount.

Only rules of type 'LOANFEE' can be selected in the Loan Fee Rule Number field.

Modifying an External Study Loan Scheme record for a Loan Scheme:

It is preferable to End Date rather than modify External Study Loan Scheme records. Except to rectify a clerical error.

• Query for the required Loan Scheme
• Record an End Date value
• Save
• Navigate to a blank External Study Loan Scheme record
• Record the the day after the previously recorded End Date in the Start Date field
• Record Minimum and/or Maximum Loan Amount values if required
• Select a Loan Fee Rule Number
• Save

Rules/Notes:

The End Date of an External Study Loan Scheme record must must later than or equal to the Start Date.

Deleting an External Study Loan Scheme record for a Loan Scheme:

A record with a Start Date earlier than the current Date should not normally be deleted. But if necessary, it is possible to do so in this way:

• Modify the Start Date to the current Date or later (see below)
• Delete the record

Rules/Notes:

If an ESLS record has been assigned to a student course external study loan it cannot be deleted.

Rather than deleting them, External Study Loan Scheme records should be End Dated.
