The purpose of this function is to enable the definition of Teaching Delivery Activities associated with a Unit Offering Option. Typically this data will be maintained in an activity-scheduling tool, such as, Syllabus Plus, and then loaded into the System via an interface. However, if required, the data may also be maintained directly using this function. Unit Offering Option activities are assigned an institution defined Activity Type, such as, Lecture, Tutorial, Practical, etc. (refer to the function Maintain Activity Type). A Unit Offering Option may have more than one activity of the same Activity Type. Each Unit Offering Option Activity will be marked as a Mandatory or Optional activity. A display order (for use in the Self Serve Facility) must be recorded for each Unit Offering Option Activity. In order for students to be allocated to a Unit Offering Option Activity, offerings of the activity must first be created. The Activity Offering defines the Day, Start Time, Duration. Each Activity Offering has a limit on the number of students that may be allocated to it. For each Activity Offering the Teaching Week Delivery Pattern of the activity will be recorded. |
Rules/Notes: The Activity Type of the Activity Offering must match the Unit Offering Option activity. A Unit Offering Option Activity cannot be inserted, updated or deleted if the parent Unit Version is inactive. The following System Activity Configuration Date Aliases must be defined before Activity Offering Instances can be defined - Timetable Start Date Alias, Timetable End Date Alias and First Week Date Alias. An active (not logically deleted) Unit Offering Option activity cannot be linked to an Activity Offering more than once. The Activity Offering may be linked to the Unit Offering Option Activity again provided the previous link has been logically deleted. The Activity Offering Published Limit must be less than or equal to the real limit. The Activity Offering Real Limit must be greater than any associated minimum limits for the related Unit Offering Option Activities. The Published Limit must be greater than the sum of the Reserved Places for this Activity Offering. Cannot insert an Activity Offering that has been logically deleted. The End Time must be greater than the Start Time. |
To
modify an Activity Offering:
|
Rules/Notes: Changes made to this Activity Offering will impact on shared Unit Offering Option Activity Offering(s). The Unit Offering Option Activity Offering Offered check box cannot be updated if it is defined as part of an Activity Group. The Activity Offering Real Limit can not be updated to a value that is less than the total of the Real Limits of the Activity Groups to which it is assigned. The Activity Offering Start Time, End Time or Instances cannot be updated if it is defined as part of an Activity Group. This is because "clash validation" is performed at the time the Activity Offering is added to an Activity Group, and by changing the Start Time, End Time or Instances, it may cause clashes. The user will have to remove the Activity Offering from the Activity Group before modifying it. Cannot change Activity Day while Activity Offering instances exist. You cannot modify the Activity Offering Real Limit, to be less than currently allocated Actual Places. |
