This form is accessed from the Course Offering button in CRSF1210. Course Version The Course Version block displays Course Details from CRSF1210. The displayed records in the Course Offering block are the Course Offerings for the context record. For example, if Course Version A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x is selected, then this form will display A300 - Bachelor of Arts and any existing Offerings relating to this Course Version will be displayed. Course Offering This block enables a Course Version to be assigned to a Calendar Type, creating a Course Offering. Courses may only be offered in Calendar Types which have a calendar category 'ACADEMIC'. A list of values containing only Calendar Types which meet this criteria is displayed in the Calendar Type field. A Course Version may be offered in more than one Calendar Type, each of which constitutes a different Course Offering. For example, the Course Version A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x could be assigned to Calendar Standard Academic Year, meaning that it is possible to offer the course in any Calendar of that type. A Course Version may be offered in Calendar Types 'Standard Academic Year' and 'MBA Calendar', constituting two different offerings of the course. This permits different options to be applied to the separate offerings. Course Offering Instance Having created a Course Offering, specific occurrences of the Offering can be defined. Each occurrence of a Course Offering is called a Course Offering Instance. A Course Offering Instance is defined by specifying the particular Calendar Instance in which the Course Version is being offered. For example, Course A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x could be assigned to Calendar Type 'Standard Academic Year', creating a Course Offering. This offering could then have occurrences in numerous Calendar Instances of type Standard Academic Year. Each occurrence is specified by recording the particular Calendar Instance in which the Course Version is being offered. In this case, A300 - Bachelor of Arts, version x could be offered in Standard Academic Year, 1/1/04 to 31/12/04. |

Inquiry of Course Offerings for a Course Version, not initially displayed: This block does not permit a query to be entered. It is necessary to:
|
Rules/Notes: Course Offerings cannot be assigned to Closed Calendar Types, however, on inquiry, existing Course Offerings which have been assigned to Calendar Types which have subsequently been Closed will be displayed. The Closed Calendar Types will have the Calendar Closed check box selected. |
To
assign a Course Version to a Calendar Type:
|
Rules/Notes: Course Offerings can only be assigned to Calendar Types which have a Calendar Category 'ACADEMIC'. Course Offerings cannot be altered once the Course Status has been made INACTIVE. |
To modify a Course Offering for a Course Version: | Rules/Notes: The Course Offering block is protected against modification. An incorrectly entered Calendar Type can be deleted and the correct Calendar Type selected provided that the incorrect entry does not have any Course Offering Instance records recorded against it. |
To
remove a Course Offering from a Course Version:
|
Rules/Notes: A Course Offering record cannot be deleted if it has any Course Offering Instance records recorded against it. |
To
define a Course Offering Instance for a Course Version:
|
Rules/Notes: A Course Offering may have numerous occurrences. Each occurrence requires the creation of a new Course Offering Instance. Courses can only be offered in ACTIVE Calendar Instances. The Calendar Instances displayed in the list of values in step 4. (below) are ACTIVE instances of the Calendar Type displayed in the Course Offering block. Each record in the Course Offering Instance block shows the Calendar Status of each Offering Instance. Although a Calendar Instance must be ACTIVE to create a Course Offering Instance, Calendar Instances can subsequently be changed to 'inactive'. An inactive Calendar Status will in effect cause a Course Offering Instance to be inactive. Inactive Course Offerings cannot have new Offering Patterns assigned to them and students cannot be enrolled in them. Guaranteed Entry Assessment Score must be >= Minimum Entry Assessment Score. When creating a new Course Offering Instance, if the Course Version has an Expiry Date which has passed, then the Entry Point indicators of all Course Patterns created, will be set to N (unticked). |
To perform a rollover of a Course Offering Instance and its Course Offering Patterns: This is initiated when you add a new Course Offering Instance (in this form) and save. Details of the latest (i.e. most recent) existing Course Offering Instance, including associated Course Offering Patterns and User Defined Data, are then automatically copied over to the new Course Offering Instance. To perform a bulk rollover of Course Offering Instances and Patterns: This is done by running the job CRSJ0010 via the Job Scheduling subsystem. |
Rules/Notes: The bulk rollover of a Course Offering Instance duplicates all attached CO Patterns and user defined data for another Calendar Instance. |
To
modify a Course Offering Instance for a Course Version:
|
Rules/Notes: Only the entry assessment scores are able to be modified. To change an Offering Instance it is necessary to delete incorrect records (provided there are no children records dependent on the instance record) and/or create new records. |
To remove a Course Offering Instance from a Course Version:
|
Rules/Notes: A Course Offering Instance cannot be deleted if it has any dependent children records. Attempting to delete a record with children records will cause an error message identifying the type of child record to be displayed. |
