Purpose

To create and maintain Industry Sectors to be assigned to Courses.

The Industry sectors assigned against Course Versions are used in funding targets and allocation.

User-defined Industry sectors may provide definition for one or more Course Versions. These Industry sectors are defined by user-defined Industry sectors (which will map to Government-defined Industry sectors).

The Industry sector information recorded against a Course Version is used for establishing funding targets and determining funding allocations.

The following are examples of Industry Sector Codes that may be created and maintained in Callista using this function. Note the Industry Sector Code defined by the institution may or may not replicate the Industry Sector Code to which it is mapped. Similarly, it will be likely that more than one Industry Sector Code is mapped to an Industry Sector Code.

Optionally, institutes may choose to record the Government-defined Industry Sector description in the GOVT_DESCRIPTOR field using this functionality.

• Industry Group
• Closed check box
• Government Descriptor
• Comments
• Explanation

Rules/Notes:

To create a new Industry Sector Type:

• Enter Insert mode.
• Enter the new code in the Industry Sector field of a blank record.
• Enter the corresponding description for the Industry Sector in the Description field.
• Select the Industry Sector to which the new Industry Sector maps from the list of values (or key a valid value) in the Industry Sector field.
• Record the Government Descriptor.
• Record any comments application to this Industry Sector.
• Record an explanation for this Industry Sector.
• Save.

Rules/Notes:

More than one active Industry Sector can exist for each Industry Sector.

Industry Sector Codes MUST be unique. 

To modify an Industry Sector:

• Find the record to be modified.
• Modify the record as required.
• Save.

Rules/Notes:

Once in use, an Industry Sector should not be modified.

To delete an Industry Sector:

• Find the record to be deleted.
• Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted.
• Delete record.
• Save.

Rules/Notes:

An Industry Sector cannot be deleted if it has been used in an Industry Sector record. It can be closed preventing any further use by selecting the Closed check box.
