STAF113A - Maintain ABS Classification

Purpose

To allow the creation and maintenance of institution-defined ABS Classification Codes and the mapping of these to Government ABS Classifications.

Background Information

Universities are required to record Government ABS classifications as part of students' Research Candidature details in RESF3211.
In STAF113A, institution-defined ABS Classification codes are mapped to the Government ABS Classifications recorded in STAF1139, and will be available for selection in RESF3211.

The ABS Classification block contains:

  • ABS Classification Code
  • Description
  • Government ABS Classification
  • ABS Classification Category
  • Closed check box

Rules/Notes:

When this form is accessed by clicking the ABS Classification button in STAF1139, only values with a Government Value of the selected record in STAF1139 will display. However if a user re-queries the form, all records matching the query will display.

When this form is accessed from the main menu, it opens in Insert mode but queries may be performed as required.

To create an ABS Classification code :

  • Enter Insert Mode.
  • Enter the local code for the ABS Classification in the ABS Classification Code field.
  • Enter a meaningful description for this code in the Description field. This will display with the code in RESF3211.
  • Select the Government ABS Classification value to which this local code will be mapped.
  • Save.

Rules/Notes:

The ABS Classification Category is associated with the Government ABS Classification (in STAF1139) and this field is populated when the Government ABS Classification is selected.

More than one local ABS Classification Code can be mapped to the one Government ABS Classification.

You cannot have two records with the same combination of ABS Classification Code, Government ABS Classification and ABS Classification Category .

To delete an ABS Classification Code record:

  • Query for the record to be deleted.
  • Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted.
  • Delete record.
  • Save.

Rules/Notes:

The combination of ABS Classification Code, Government ABS Classification and ABS Classification Category will be deleted. Another record with this ABS Classification Code but different Government ABS Classification or may still exist.

An ABS Classification Code record cannot be deleted if it has been used in a Student Candidature Record (RESF3211).

To modify an ABS Classification Code:

  • Find the record to be modified.
  • Modify the record as required.
  • Save.

Rules/Notes:

Only the Description or Closed indicator fields should be modified in ABS Classification Code records.
