When registering a Student Course Variation (SCV) or an accepted student on Provider Registration and International Student Managment System (PRISMS), the provider must also provide details to the Office of Immigration Minister’s Department, from where the student’s application or extension for a student visa was, or is expected to be made.

When a SCV is returned only an Australian Immigration Office should be selected in PRISMS as the referral office, except where the SCV refers to a visa extension application or other extenuating circumstances. Therefore, when an SCV is identified an Australian Immigration Office should be recorded against the ECOE SCV reporting record. Therefore one and only one immigration office will require definition as the institutions default for SCV reporting. However there is potentially more than one immigration office value per state and whilst it is most likely that a single default value could be applied system wide for a given institution, institutions with multiple campuses over large geographical range may require the ability to define default values on a per campus location basis.

When a SCV is returned, the system default immigration office value, predefined by the institution, will then be inserted into the SCV table. However in some circumstances another immigration office may be relevant to the given SCV instance, and the ability for the immigration office value to be manually overwritten in the SCV table is required.

STAF1135 allows the recording of listed Government Immigration Offices. They have a descriptive name only (For example, THE AUSTRALIAN HIGH COMMISION, TOKYO, JAPAN). The description will enable mapping to institution defined code values.
