Electronic SA-HELP Form

Overview

The Electronic SA-HELP application enables students, when eligible, to complete their SA-HELP Form online. Entries in this application may update some of the fields for a student in ENRF3240.

Requesting SA-HELP

The SA-HELP application can be accessed via the menu link 'SA-HELP' and, if the SA-HELP enrolment step has been has been configured for the student's enrolment category, may also be accessed as a step during self-enrolment.

Note: The SA-HELP application can only be accessed once on any given day.

Access via the menu

To be able to access SA-HELP, the student must be enrolled in a course that is eligible for SA-HELP (as set in CRSF1210) and be liable for a fee whose Loan Type is SA-HELP.
If these conditions are not satisfied, then when they click on the SA-HELP menu item, a message will display stating that 'According to our records, you are not eligible for Commonwealth Assistance. If this is incorrect pleaes contact the Institution's Administration.'
Where the student is enrolled in multiple courses, they are given the option to select the appropriate course, before the SA-HELP assistance forms are displayed.

Access during Self Enrolment

If the SA-HELP step is present for the WEB enrolment method type (as defined in ENRF0192) for the student's Enrolment Category, then they will be given access to the SA-HELP application as part of their self enrolment process.

Screen Navigation

When the application opens, the student's name and course details are pre-populated and cannot be edited.

Item 5 contains a series of questions that are used to determine the citizenship of the student. Answers to these may also be pre-populated using details from the student's statistics form (ENRF3060).
These may be updated here if required.
Note: At least one of the radio buttons must selected for item 5, for the application to be submitted.

Item 6 relates to the student's Tax File Number (TFN).
The student can record their TFN here.
If ####### is displayed for the TFN it indicates that a TFN is already recorded for the student.

Item 7 contains information for the student about the declaration.

When the student clicks on the button, the following occurs:

• A warning is displayed if the citizenship status or tax file number has changed.
• The receipt is displayed.
• The Declaration Date for the application is set to today's date. This corresponds to the Declaration Date (in ENRF3240).
• The record is inserted in STUDENT_ECAF_COMPLETION table with updated details from the form.
  
• If the new tax file number is different from the recorded one then the old record in the STUDENT_CRS_PAYMENT_OPTION is end dated and a new record is created, but
  if the current tax file number is NULL and the new one is set then the STUDENT_CRS_PAYMENT_OPTION record is updated.
