Maintain Web Links

This form is used to create and maintain links for external cascading style sheets to be inserted into web pages in Callista Connect.

For more details on the creation of web pages refer to the specialist topic Understanding the Web Administrator.

1. Navigate to this form via the Site Map button.

2. Select Current Window to open this form in the current browser window or New Window to open this form in a new browser window.

3. To open the Maintain Web Page Link Element window and create a new web link element:

i. Add.

ii. System Web Element.

iii. LINK.

4. Record details of the new web link.

A web link name must be recorded for a new web link; and cannot be altered when a web link is edited.

Web link name:

i. Record a description of the web link.

ii. Enter the path and filename of the cascading style sheet in the Href field.

iii. Record the Rel field. This follows normal HTML coding practices and for cascading style sheets 'stylesheet' is normally entered here.

iv. Also record the Type. Again this follows HTML coding and 'text/css' is normally entered here.

v. Optionally Insert CC Embed Element. The LOV displays the web element chooser. This allows other elements to be inserted into the web link though this is not recommended.

vi. The Tags in Property indicator is used when entering code into the Property block and HTML tags are used. If tags have been used in the property block and the indicator has not been selected, the tags in the property block appear in the web page. If the indicator is selected, the system does not insert its own tags and uses those recorded in the property block.
vii. Select the button adjacent to the Property block to open the HTML TextArea Editor to conveniently view or enter  HTML code. Select the Close button to close the Editor. Any changes appear in the Property block.

5. If the Style Override indicator is selected, the global or individual style overrides any inline style elements applied to the link. If the Style Override is unchecked, an inline style applied to the link overrides the global or individual style for the element unless it has been listed as a replacement element in the global or individual style.

6. Select the Insert button to save the new link

7. To open the Choose Web Page Link Element window:

i. Edit.

ii. System Web Element.

iii. LINK.

iv. Select the required element.

v. Then OKAY to navigate to the Maintain Web Page Link Element window and edit or view an existing web link web element.

vi. Select UPDATE to save changes that have been made.

8. Unwanted web links can be removed by selecting the Delete button.

Rules/Notes:

A web link cannot be deleted if it is currently being used in a web page or a web page element.
