Maintain Web Page Head

This form is used to create and maintain web page head elements for use in web pages.

A web page head is used for style elements, titles and javascript references. For example: it could contain inline style definitions or source an external cascading style sheet. The head is also used to record the title of the page that appears in the title bar of the browser.

The web page head can be used as an alternative to adding elements in Connect Builder. Web elements can be embedded into the page head, and positioned as required using HTML tags. This web page head is then inserted into a web page either through Connect Builder or through the Maintain Web Page form with the page inheriting the web page heads web elements.

For more details on the creation of web pages refer to the specialist topic Understanding the Web Administrator.

A web page head code must be recorded for a new web page head; and
cannot be altered when a web page head is edited.

Web page head code:

i. Record a description of the web page head.

ii. Class - used to define the web element for cascading style sheets (optional).

iii. ID - similar to the CLASS command in HTML, ID is used when inserting style sheets into Javascript or DHTML. (optional)

iv. Optionally alter the web element template by typing in directly the HTML code or inserting embedded elements in the Property block.
v. Select the button adjacent to the Property block to open the HTML TextArea Editor to conveniently view or enter  HTML code. Select the Close button to close the Editor. Any changes appear in the Property block.

vi. Select the Preview button to display a sample of the web page head.

vii. Select the Insert button to save.

5. To open the Choose Web Page Head window:

6. The Insert Embed Web Element LOV displays the web element chooser. This allows other elements to be inserted into the head. For example: the title and inline style definition elements could be inserted into the head rather than using Connect Builder.

7. The Tags in Property indicator is used when adding an element or editing the page head template and HTML tags have been used. If the indicator is not selected, the data is displayed with the tags in the web page. If the indicator is selected, only the data displays and not the tags.

8. If the Style Override indicator is selected, the global or individual style overrides any inline style elements applied to the head. If the Style Override is unchecked, an inline style applied to the head overrides the global or individual style for the element unless it has been listed as a replacement element in the global or individual style.

9. Select the Closed indicator to prevent further use of the web page head.

10. Unwanted web page heads can be removed by selecting the Delete button.

Rules/Notes:

A web page head cannot be deleted if it is currently being used.
