Person Results Inquiry (Assessment Period) Application Process (ASS-RESULT)

Overview

This application enables Callista Connect users to view their current results for the latest occurring assessment period. This application generates a Statement of Results that displays in PDF format. The functionality of ASS-RESULT is similar to PE-RESULT with the main difference that the AS-RESULT generated Statement of Results is extracted from an Assessment Period rather than an Academic Period. The Statement of Results will include the following information:

• Generation Date
• Teaching Period
• Student Name
• Student ID
• Course
• Course Status
• Course Campus
• Unit Code
• Unit Title
• Unit Period
• Mark
• Grade
• Grading Schema
• Key to Results

Business Rules for the Results Section of Statement

• The Cohort Process Window can be limited on Unit (assigning ASS-RESULT to COHORT-SUA), Course (COHORT-SCA) and Person (COHORTPRSN)
• Cohort Process Window must be active, including other previous years if selected as part of the search results (Using the 'Number of Previous Years for Search Results field in Maintain Assessments Configuration (ASSF01N0). Validate cohort process window within the current assessment period for ASS-RESULT.
• Current assessment period must be determined, as defined by the Cohort Process Window, and by the number of previous years configured in Maintain Assessments Configuration (ASSF01N0)

Student Unit Attempt Outcome Application Process:

• The student must have a Unit Attempt Status of either ENROLLED, COMPLETED, DISCONTIN or DUPLICATE within the current assessment period for results to be shown
• The Student Unit Attempt must be valid for the given student ID in the current assessment period. I.e. units undertaken in Teaching Period(s) associated with the Assessment Period (Process Calendar Instance).
• The Show on Official Notice Board indicator must be set to Y
• SSFP_GET_SUA_OUTCOME is used to get results. This package has its own business rules including:
  • Key to Grading Schema
  • Grade must be finalised
  • Student Unit Attempts must be completed, discontinued or duplicate
  • Determine if student has results block in the assessment period of the unit attempt. Get result block encumbrance checking date.
  • Get the achieved credit points for a nominated student unit attempt, allowing for:
    • Checking for whether the student has passed
    • Repeating of units, which are either allowed or disallowed as repeatable units

  Note: The validations described are fully handled within the above package. No additional calls are required by this package.

• Where the student has a RESULTS_BLK this will be returned as a Grading Schema to be shown under Key to Results section, with the Grade being BLOCK and the Mark being **
• In the following circumstances, a Grade ** and Mark ** will be shown in the results section:
  • The unit attempt status is ENROLLED or UNCONFIRM
  • There is an override date, the override date is greater than today's date, and the Unit Attempt Status is DISCONTIN, and
  • If the Finalised Indicator is N for the COMPLETED, DISCONTIN, DUPLICATE unit attempts.

    There will be no Grading Schema displayed for these circumstances

• If no Student Attempt Outcomes (Results), then a message stating 'There are no results to be displayed' is displayed. Keep in mind that the message can be prevented from appearing if 'Number of Previous Years for Search Results' from Maintain Assessments Configuration (ASSF01N0) is selected.
  • For example,
    CPW   OPEN              SEM-2 2008   
    CPW   CLOSED         SUM 2009      
    If the student has unit attempts in SUM 2009, with finalised results, then the academic year of 2009 is found. However, since the CPW is closed the results are not displayed in PDF, rather a message ‘There are no results available for this person’ will appear.
    A configuration form (Maintain Assessments Configuration - ASSF01N0) determines how many years to investigate. Using the example above, when the configuration is set to 1, then a search for finalised results in year 2008 is done. When set to 2, search on the year 2008 for finalised results, if not found, then look into year 2007. Once a year is found that has finalised results, an open cohort process window must be found (as currently done).The message is prevented from appearing when finalised result(s) exist in a previous year.
    Once an open cohort process window is located, the next step is to determine the grades to display. These grades only display if the show on official notification is set for the grading schema grade for the student unit attempt outcomes. If all grades found are not for display on official notification, then the next previous year with finalised results should be looked at (depending on configuration form set up – Number of Previous Years field). However, if the configuration form has no value (null), then no previous years will be investigated.
• If no results are available for the student, then a message stating "There are no results available for this person" is displayed

Business Rules for PDF file - Key to Results section of Statement

For each unit that the student has undertaken, all Grading Schema details must be shown and ordered by Grading Schema Code and Version Number, then Rank
