Maintain Web Anchor

This form is used to create and maintain anchors as web elements so that they can be incorporated in Callista Connect web pages, via Connect Builder. Web Anchors are links to other pages within Callista Connect, external web pages or sites.

Note: An anchor is the HTML term for a link. Anchor's can be applied to images or fonts in web pages. Anchor web elements are used as the Link Web Element Code for applications in the Maintain Self Serve Application Data form (SSFF1300).

For more details on the creation of web pages refer to the specialist topic Understanding the Web Administrator.

1. Navigate to this form via the Site Map button.

2. Select Current Window to open this form in the current browser window or New Window to open this form in a new browser window.

3. To open the Maintain Web Anchor window and create a new web anchor:

i. Add,

ii. System Web Element,

iii. ANCHOR.

4. Record details of the anchor to be created as a web element.

An Anchor code must be recorded for a new anchor; and cannot be altered when an anchor is edited.

An anchor code:

i. Record a description of the anchor.

ii. Class - used to define the web element for cascading style sheets (optional).

iii. Record the Href for the anchor. This is the page that the link goes to when selected in the web page. Either:

  • Record the path and filename of a web page created outside of Callista Connect; or
  • Select the LOV to record a page created in Callista Connect.

iv. ID - similar to the CLASS command in HTML, ID is used when inserting style sheets into Javascript or DHTML. (optional)

v. Name - again used to identify the particular item, similar to ID. (optional)

vi. Target - combined with Name attribute, target is used to direct the output of the link. (optional)

vii. For anchor's that are not associated with data items (ie. those used in SSFF1300), text must be recorded for the link in the Property field.
viii. Select the button adjacent to the Property block to open the HTML TextArea Editor to conveniently view or enter  HTML code. Select the Close button to close the Editor. Any changes appear in the Property block.
Alternatively, an image may be recorded as the link, by using the Insert CC Embed Element facility.

ix. Select the Insert button to save

5. To open the Choose Web Anchor window:

i. Edit,

ii. System Web Element,

iii. ANCHOR

iv. Select the required element,

v. OKAY to navigate to the Maintain Web Anchor window and edit or view an existing web anchor element.

vi. Select Update to save changes that have been made.

6. The Insert Embed Web Element displays the choose web element page. This allows elements to be inserted into the anchor web element.

7. The Tags in Property indicator is used when adding HTML in the Property block. It indicates to the system whether HTML tags have been used when entering text into the property. For example: font is inserted for the link, the font tags are included (eg. <FONT>anchor</FONT>) and the indicator is not selected, the text will display as <FONT>anchor</FONT>. If the indicator is selected, the text is displayed without its tags. The indicator is only used where HTML tags are entered in the property block. If tags are not recorded in the property block, the indicator does not need to be selected.

8. If the Style Override indicator is selected, the global or individual style overrides any inline style elements applied to the anchor. If the Style Override is de-selected, an inline style applied to the anchor overrides the global or individual style for the element unless it has been listed as a replacement element in the global or individual style.

9. Select the Closed indicator to prevent further use of the web anchor.

10. Unwanted web anchor elements can be removed by selecting the Delete button.

Rules/Notes:

A web anchor element cannot be deleted if it is currently being used in a web page.
