The Government allocates a unique code to each Tertiary institution in Australia. These codes are currently listed in an Appendix to the Technical Documentation for the Higher Education Student Collection. The Government Code for each institution must be created and maintained within the System. If the Valid HEP (Higher Education Provider) check box is not selected, then this HEP Code will not be included in the Prior Tertiary Education defaults, which are transmitted to HEIMS, as part of CHESSN requests. |

modify a Government Institution Code record using the Maintain Government
Institution Code form:

Rules/Notes: If a Government Institution Code has been assigned to an institution or used elsewhere in the System, its description should only be modified where the change is to correct an incorrectly entered description. A new Government Institution Code should normally be created, in accordance with Government department specifications. A Government Institution Code can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
To delete a Government Institution Code record using the Maintain Government Institution Code form:
