Purpose

To change the status of 'qualifying' Advanced Standing applications from APPROVED to GRANTED.

Subsystem Advanced Standing
Normally Run By Administration Specialist
Anticipated Frequency As required
Structure Block Grant Advanced Standing
Tab Parameters

Refer also to 'Granting Statuses of a Student's Advanced Standing Record'.

For an Advanced Standing record to be processed:

  • The student Course Attempt against which it is recorded must be ENROLLED, INACTIVE or INTERMIT, depending on the parameters selected.
  • The APPROVED/GRANTED Advanced Standing must not exceed the Advanced Standing limits of the course version (as recorded in CRSF1210).
  • The student cannot have an encumbrance that suspends or revokes services.

The process:

  • Changes the Granting Status of unit Advanced Standing Records to GRANTED where:
    • Their Granting Status is APPROVED, and
    • Their Advanced Standing Type is either CREDIT or PRECLUSION, and
    • The Advanced Standing percentage is 100.
  • Changes the Granting Status of Unit Level Advanced Standing records to GRANTED where:
    • Their Granting Status is APPROVED.
  • Sets the Granted date to the current date.

In the Enrolments subsystem, where a Student Unit Attempt matches a unit in which Advanced Standing has been granted, this process deletes the Student Unit Attempt if:

    • Its status is UNCONFIRM and the unit is not a repeatable unit, or
    • Its status is ENROLLED, it is not a repeatable unit and the Advanced Standing granting date is earlier than the census date of the teaching period.

Manually discontinue the Student Unit Attempt if its status is ENROLLED, it is not a repeatable unit and the Advanced Standing granting date is later than the census date of the teaching period.

Student Unit Attempts are able to be deleted by this process only if Advanced Standing is granted prior to the unit deletion cut-off date (see ADVF1110).

Student Unit Attempts are not altered if:

  • Their status is INVALID, DISCONTIN or DUPLICATE, or
  • If the unit is not repeatable and is already COMPLETED with a PASS result.

ADVJ4412 is run to expire APPROVED Advanced Standing where it has not been changed to GRANTED prior to its expiry date.

Scheduled to run as a standing request through Job Scheduler. Recommended to run nightly. It detects whether or not any records require processing.

The Grant Advanced Standing block contains:

  • Student course Attempt Status 1
  • Student course Attempt Status 2
  • Student course Attempt Status 3

Rules/Notes:

This job does not produce any reports. It does write all transactions to a log which is accessed by the Advanced Standing Granting Report (ADVR4710).

The log lists the number of students processed successfully and those for whom the process has failed. It also lists SUAs with unfinalised Outcomes that were discontinued a student.

This report should be set up as a standing request, perhaps running weekly, to report on all successful and unsuccessful transactions produced by this job.
