Maintain Paragraph Element

This form is used to create and maintain paragraphs as web elements so that they can be incorporated in Callista Connect web pages, via Connect Builder. Paragraphs are used to format blocks of fonts (text). For example: set the text to a right alignment or justifying the text or link a style to the font. The Paragraph element also places a space above and below the text.

When using the paragraph element, the font (text) would normally be embedded into the paragraph (the Insert CC Embed Web Element option). Font could also be written directly into the Property block. Font can also be applied as a subordinate element of a paragraph in Connect Builder.

Optionally, a paragraph with no associated fonts can be inserted as a subordinate of a web page body to provide a separation between elements within the web body. For example: providing a space between help text and the application web element.

1. Navigate to this form via the Site Map button. 

2. Select Current Window to open this form in the current browser window or New Window to open this form in a new browser window.

3. To open the Maintain Paragraph Element  window and create a new paragraph web element:

i. Add,

ii. System Web Element,

iii. PARAGRAPH.

4. Record details of the paragraph to be created as a web element.

A paragraph code must be recorded for a new paragraph; and cannot be altered when a paragraph is edited.

Paragraph code:

i. Record a description of the paragraph.

ii. Align - define an alignment for the font controlled by the paragraph. For example: right, center, justify. (optional)

iii. Class - used to define the web element for cascading style sheets (optional).

iv. ID - similar to the CLASS command in HTML, ID is used when inserting style sheets into Javascript or DHTML. (optional)

v. Style - apply a style element to the paragraph. (optional)

vi. Select the Insert button to save

5. To open the Choose Paragraph Element window:

i. Edit,

ii. System Web Element,

iii. PARAGRAPH,

iv. Select the required element,

v. Then OKAY to navigate to the Maintain Paragraph Element  window and edit or view an existing paragraph web element. 

vi. Select UPDATE to save changes that have been made.

6. The Insert CC Embed Web Element LOV displays the web element chooser. This allows elements to be inserted into the paragraph web element.

7. HTML code may be entered  in the Property block.  Select the button adjacent to the Property block to open the HTML TextArea Editor to conveniently view or enter  HTML code. Select the Close button to close the Editor. Any changes appear in the Property block.

8. The Tags in Property indicator is used when adding HTML in the Property block. It indicates to the system whether HTML tags have been used when entering text into the property. For example: font is inserted for the link, the font tags are included (eg. <FONT>anchor</FONT>) and the indicator is not selected, the text will display as <FONT>anchor</FONT> If the indicator is selected, the text is displayed without its tags. The indicator is only used where HTML tags are entered in the property block. If tags are not recorded in the property block, the indicator does not need to be selected.

9. If the Style Override indicator is selected, the global or individual style overrides any inline style elements applied to the paragraph. If the Style Override is de-selected, an inline style applied to the paragraph overrides the global or individual style for the element unless it has been listed as a replacement element in the global or individual style.

10. Select the Closed indicator to prevent further use of the paragraph.

11. Unwanted paragraph elements can be removed by selecting the Delete button.

Rules/Notes:

A paragraph element cannot be deleted if it is currently being used in a web page.
