Encumbrance Effect Types

Encumbrance Effect Types are System defined. The tables below describes the set of Encumbrance Effect Types, their recommended Encumbrance Category, hierarchical level, sense (+ or -) and whether or not they apply to a specific Student Course Attempt.

ALL SERVICES REVOKED

The student's access to all services is revoked.

Before this Level 3 effect can be applied, all Student Course Attempts must be discontinued. Upon application of the effect all services are withdrawn. The student is also prevented from gaining admission to or enrolling in a new course and is prevented from re-enrolling in all pre-existing courses.

SUS_SRVC

ALL SERVICES WITHDRAWN.TO BE REINSTATED WHEN OBLIGATIONS MET

The student's access to all services is withdrawn but will be reinstated when the outstanding obligations are met.

This Level 2 effect withdraws all services from the student while one or more administrative obligations remain outstanding. It is not necessary to discontinue the Student's Course Attempt prior to applying this Encumbrance effect. However the student is prevented from gaining admission to or enrolling in a new course. If the student does not attend to the outstanding obligation it is recommended that the student's enrolment be discontinued and an Encumbrance Type with an effect of RVK_SRVC applied.

RESULT_BLK

RELEASE OF RESULTS BLOCKED

Blocks the generation of a formal certificate of results.

To enable this system effect type, go to the Maintain Correspondence Categories (CORF2200) form and select the 'Block When Encumbered' check box for the Correspondence Type that is used to generate a certificate of results.

TRANS_BLK

ISSUE OF ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT BLOCKED

Blocks the generation of a formal Academic Transcript.

To enable this System Effect Type, go to the Maintain Correspondence Categories (CORF2200) form and select the 'Block When Encumbered' check box for the Correspondence Type that is used to generate an Academic Transcript

Blocks the graduation of an otherwise qualified Graduand.

The Student's Course Attempt is discontinued automatically (where it is a member of this course group), when applying a progression outcome with this System Encumbrance Effect associated (through a linked Encumbrance Type). The cancellation or expiration of the progression outcome expires this Encumbrance Effect and lifts the course discontinuation.

ENROLMENT SUSPENDED IN SPECIFIC COURSE FOR A DEFINED PERIOD

The student's enrolment is suspended in a specific course for a defined period. The Student's Course Attempt is discontinued automatically, when applying a progression outcome with this System Encumbrance Effect associated (through a linked Encumbrance Type). The cancellation or expiration of the progression outcome expires this Encumbrance effect, lifts the course discontinuation and updates the Course Attempt Status to INACTIVE.
