This report provides details of examinations that need to be scheduled during an examination period

Purpose

It is used primarily by institutions not using the Exam Timetabling Subsystem to schedule their examinations, however other institutions may use it for checking purposes prior to exams being scheduled.

Details in the report include:

  • Examination duration
  • Numbers of students enrolled in ON and OFF modes
  • Units that share a common examination
  • Constraints to be taken into consideration when compiling the timetable
  • Whether exams are to be centrally or non-centrally managed

Run Details

This job is normally run through Job Scheduler immediately prior to commencing production of an examination schedule. At this time all Student Unit Attempt Assessment Items relevant to the Assessment Period should have been recorded by frequently running the processes Automatically Maintain Student Unit Attempt Assessment Items (ASSJ3212) and Apply Unit Assessment Item Modification To Students (ASSJ3213).

The report can be run in either immediate or batch modes. However, when run in batch mode, the choice to create an output file of the report is disabled.

The Required Examinations Report block contains:

    This parameter allows reporting of either Normal exams, Supplementary exams or both.
  • Teaching Period
  • Owning Org Unit
  • Unit Code
  • Unit Mode
  • Location
  • Examination Responsibility
    This parameter enables the report to be run both for central and non-central exams, central exams only or non-central exams only. Central exams are scheduled exams administered by a central organisational unit, such as Student Administration. Non-central exams are scheduled exams administered by a non-central organisational unit such as a faculty.

Note: The % symbol indicates that the parameter is not considered for processing.

The report is usually run for all examinations in an assessment period. Other parameters permit the reporting of a subset of these examinations.

The Examinations Report is presented in landscape mode.

When run in immediate mode, this report may also produce an output file (assr0640.txt) in the user's root directory C:\. This file is a comma delimited text file used for loading into a word processing, spreadsheet or database application, by opening the file within the application. This process requires some specialised knowledge.
