ASSF0110 - Maintain Assessment Type

Purpose

To allow the recording of institution defined Assessment Types

Subsystem Assessments
Normally Run By Administration Specialist
Anticipated Frequency As required
Structure Block Assessment Type

Use this form to record institution defined Assessment Types. They are used in the definition of an Assessment Item in Maintain Assessment Items (ASSF2100). Assessment Types might include ASSIGNMENT - assignment, EXAMCTL - centrally managed examination, ORALFACLTY - non centrally managed oral examination.

Refer to All About Assessment Items in Understanding Assessments.

The Assessment Type block contains:

  • Assessment Type
  • Description
  • Examinable check box
Indicates whether the Assessment Type is Examinable or not. Different sets of data are collected for
Examinable and Non-examinable types and different processes are applied to them. (For example, Examinable items can be passed to the Examination Timetable process.)
  • Closed check box
  • System Assessment Type
    Optionally assign a
System Assessment Type. This is required in some cases to enable System functionality to apply. (For example, Assessment items are recognised for assignment tracking purposes only where they are of an Assessment Type mapped to the System Assessment Type ASSIGNMENT.)

Rules/Notes:

Once used to define an Assessment Item, Assessment Types cannot be deleted. Select the Closed check box to prevent further use.

Once used to define an Assessment Item, Assessment Types cannot have their Examinable check box changed.

For non-centrally managed examinations, an Assessment Type must be created and mapped to the System Assessment Type NONCENTRAL. This is mapped to the location NONCENTRAL created in ORGF0131.
