Trades school has been busy!

CDU Open day was again a great success. The new Trades Utes were unveiled and attracted much attention from Open Day visitors. Our Automotive & Civil exhibit was also voted ‘Best Exhibitor’ in the VET Category. The team was congratulated for putting on such an interactive and engaging display and has been awarded $250 towards a staff gathering. Well done all!

Various Trades teams played host to visiting Universities participating in the Solar Challenge race from Darwin to Adelaide. Teams from Holland, South Africa and Colombia took advantage of our facilities and hospitality which allowed them to prepare their vehicles for their long solar-powered journey.

The School of Trades was also presented with the prestigious ‘Flamin’ award by Vice-Chancellor Prof Simon Maddocks on the 4th of August. The award recognises the School’s innovation and outstanding commitment to the Fire Training and Emergency Response facility. Tom Lacey, Senior Manager Major Projects, was recognised for his drive and determination in getting the school to where they are. Tom was presented as a co-recipient of the award for his contribution.

Thanks to everyone for the hard work, foresight and determination that made these achievements possible.
