Milestones are used in the Research subsystem, to mark the progress of a Candidature. A standard set of milestones can be created for a Course Version, using this form. This set of Course Default Milestones can then be used when establishing milestones for an individual candidature (using the Maintain Candidature Milestones form RESF3232).

Use this form to record a default set of research milestones for a course version.

This form can be accessed from CRSF1210 or directly from a menu. When accessed from CRSF1210, the details in the Course Version block are brought forward from that form. Using the menu, this form opens in query mode to allow retrieval of the required Course Version details.

The Attendance Type block displays all applicable attendance types, within course offering options for the context course version. The Attendance Type can be queried. Attendance Types cannot be deleted or added in this form.

The Default Research Milestone Set block displays the milestone set applicable to the active Attendance Type. The Milestone Type, Offset Days and Comments fields in this block can be queried.

Creating the Default Research Milestone Set requires entry of a valid institution-defined Milestone Type (maintained in RESF3110) and an Offset Days value. Milestones will display in ascending order of Offset Days.

Additional Comments can be entered, but are not mandatory.

Notes/Rules:

  • A CLOSED Milestone Type cannot be entered.
  • Exact duplicates (the same Milestone Type and number of Offset Days) cannot be created in a set.
  • Deleting any Milestone from this set of Course Default Research Milestones will have no effect on existing Candidature Milestones.
  • An Offset Days value is required, but can be 0.
  • The Offset Days value is used to calculate the Due Date for this default milestone, when used as a Candidature Milestone (RESF3232). It describes the number of days the milestone will be offset from the Candidature Commencement Date.
