Update Process

The System Log is used by many Callista jobs to note those records which the job was unable to process (exceptions). The Log can then be accessed by the jobs' exception reports to retrieve the unprocessed records, enabling them to be reported to the user, along with their respective error/warning messages.

This job is used to remove from the System Log, entries which have been recorded there for greater than a specified period of time. For example, the job could be run nightly to delete all System Log entries older than 28 days.

Run Details

This job is typically run:

  • as a standing request in an 'off-peak' run widow
  • as frequently as the institution's data management regime requires, although it is recommended that the job be set to run nightly

Job Parameters

Parameters are used to restrict the set of log entries to be deleted.

  • System Log Type - (mandatory) restricts the deletion of entries to a specific log type. The log type is an abbreviated name for the job which produced the entry. A separate instance of this job must be requested to delete entries of each log type. This allows entries of each log type to be deleted at different ages.
  • Days Old - specifying a number causes entries of the specified log type to be deleted if they are older than that number of days.
