System Advanced Standing Recognition Type

Explanation

Advanced standing recognition types are described under Advanced Standing Reference Data. The set of advanced standing recognition types is System defined, meaning institutions cannot create their own. Institutions can assign two attributes to the recognition types in order to modify their effects on the System. These attributes are:

  • Academic Transcript indicator - when selected indicates that advanced standing details of that recognition type are to be included on students' academic transcripts
  • Completion/Progression indicator - when selected indicates that advanced standing details of that recognition type count toward students' completion/progression requirements for the course

The Closed indicator - indicates that the recognition type can no longer be recorded against an advanced standing record. This indicator cannot be updated by users. Changing the Closed indicator requires the intervention of a database administrator (and would rarely, if ever, be done) due to its effect on subsystem functionality.

Example

Selecting the Completion/Progression indicator for recognition type CREDIT means that students with advanced standing of recognition type CREDIT have their advanced standing counted for completion and progression purposes. Deselecting the same indicator for recognition type PRECLUSION means that students with advanced standing of this recognition type do not have that advanced standing included for progression and completion purposes.

To add a new system advanced standing recognition type using the Maintain System Advanced Standing Recognition Type form:

Rules:

  • Advanced Standing Recognition Types are System defined and cannot be added

To modify a system advanced standing recognition type using the Maintain System Advanced Standing Recognition Type form:

  1. Find the record to be modified.
  2. Select or deselect the checkboxes as required.
  3. Save.

Rules:

  • It is unlikely, that once established, the attributes of an advanced standing recognition type would be changed.
  • The Closed indicator cannot be changed by users.

To delete a system advanced standing recognition type using the Maintain System Advanced Standing Recognition Type form:

Rules:

  • Advanced Standing Recognition Types are System defined and cannot be deleted

Changes within this form will have the following notable effects:

The effects of selecting or deselecting checkboxes are described in the explanation above.
