This form is used to record and maintain the institution defined set of Residency Codes. These are comparable to Government Permanent Resident Codes (element 390), but provide for greater flexibility with the ability to subdivide Government Codes and to use more meaningful codes. Each institution defined Residency Code must be mapped to a Government Permanent Resident Code. Permanent Resident Codes identify whether or not a person is a Permanent Resident of Australia and are used for Government reporting and validation of Student Status. For example, this function could be used to create meaningful codes for Permanent Residency which would map to the numeric codes as shown in the table below.

To create a new Permanent Resident Code record using the Maintain Permanent Resident Codes form:

Rules/Notes: Institution defined Permanent Residence Codes MUST be unique. Explanations should be recorded in the form of an answer, for example:
If an explanation is not recorded, the radio button appears for selection in the GOVT-STATS application with no explanation text next to it. |

Rules/Notes: If a Permanent Resident Code has been assigned to a Student Enrolment, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box. |
