Structure Block Citizenship Code

This form is used to record and maintain the institution defined set of Citizenship Codes. These are comparable to Government Citizenship Codes (element 358) specified in the Data Dictionary of the HEIMS Manual, but provide for greater flexibility with the ability to subdivide Government Codes and to use more meaningful codes. Each institution defined Citizenship Code must be mapped to a Government Citizenship Code. Citizenship Codes are used in the Maintain Person Statistical Details form (ENRF3060) and in the Person Statistics application within Callista Connect.

For example, the Government Citizenship Code for New Zealand Citizens is 2. This function permits an institution specified Citizenship Code to be used. The institution defined code NZ-CITIZEN could map to the Government Code, 2.

The Citizenship Code block contains:

  • Citizenship Code
  • Description
  • Govt Citizen Code
  • Closed check box
  • Notes
  • Explanation

To create a new Citizenship Code record using the Maintain Citizenship Codes form:
  • Enter Insert mode
  • Enter the new Citizenship Code in the Citizenship Code field of a blank record
  • Enter the corresponding description for the Citizenship Code in the Description field
  • Select the government Citizenship Code to which the new Citizenship Code maps from the list of values (or key a valid value) in the Govt Citizenship Code field
  • Enter any other information regarding this Citizenship Code in the Notes field
  • Record an explanation for each Citizenship Code. Citizenship Code explanations are used as part of the GOVT-STATS application in Callista Connect. The explanation is used as an answer to the citizenship question in the application
  • Save

Rules/Notes:

Each institution defined Citizenship Code MUST be unique.

Explanations should be recorded in the form of an answer, for example:

  • Australian Citizen
  • Temporary Entry Permit

If an explanation is not recorded, it is not displayed in the GOVT-STATS application within Callista Connect. A radio button appears for selection with no explanation text next to it.

To modify a Citizenship Code record using the Maintain Citizenship Codes form:

  • Find the record to be modified
  • Modify the record as required
  • Save

Rules/Notes:

A Citizenship Code should only be modified where the change is to correct an incorrectly entered description and/or explanation.

To delete a Citizenship Code record using the Maintain Citizenship Codes form:

  • Find the record to be deleted
  • Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted
  • Delete record
  • Save

Rules/Notes:

If a Citizenship Code has been assigned to a Student Enrolment, it cannot be deleted. It can be closed, preventing any further use, by selecting the Closed check box.
