Purpose

To enable the recording and maintenance of institution-defined Volume of Learning details

In courses where the admission rules permit students with different levels of relevant prior learning to apply, the course resolutions may make provision for reduction of the volume of learning based on prior learning.
CRSF12K0 introduces fields for the recording of minimum and intermediate credit point, part-time completion and full-time completion values, for HE courses. These will reflect an institution’s Volume of Learning values. Multiple values can be recorded for a course version, and used by the institution, for example, on their website as part of a course’s description.

This form is accessed from CRSF1210.

The Course Version block contains:

• Course Code
• Version Number
• Course Status
• Title

The Volume of Learning block contains:

• Credit Points
• Full Time
• Part Time
• Closed check box

Rules/Notes:

The Volume of Learning details define alternative study requirements to complete a course for students who have completed some type of preliminary study. This usually takes the form of reduced credit point requirements, hence reduced time to complete the course.

The Full Time and Part Time values indicate the completion time for Volume of Learning requirements of the course on a full-time or part-time basis, where 30 = 3 years, 20 = 2 years, etc.

Validations:

• The Volume of Learning Credit Points cannot be greater than the credit points required for course completion.
• The Volume of Learning Full Time value cannot be greater than the Course Version Std FT Completion value.
• The Volume of Learning Part Time value cannot be greater than the Course Version Std PT Completion value.
• The Volume of Learning values are not normally equal to the corresponding Course Details values, a warning displays if you save such values.

To create a new Volume of Learning record using the Maintain Volume of Learning form:

• Enter Insert Mode.
• Enter the desired name of the category in the Course Category field of a blank record.
• Enter a meaningful description for the Course Category in the Description field.
• Save.

To delete a Volume of Learning record using the Maintain Volume of Learning form:

• Find the record to be deleted.
• Locate the cursor in the record to be deleted.
• Delete record.
• Save.

• Find the record to be modified.
• Modify the record as required.
• Save.
