The terms used in the Assessments subsystem are described below. The relationships between data and concepts used in this subsystem are explained in detail in the Understanding Assessments section.

This is used to warn against further Unit Assessment Item variations in a Teaching Period. |
Assessment Pattern Code |
This is the institution defined code for an Assessment Pattern. Assessment Patterns enable the grouping of Assessment Items. |
Assessment Pattern ID |
This is a System generated number used to uniquely identify an Assessment Pattern. |
Assessment Type |
This is assigned to each Assessment Item in order to classify the item. Assessment Types can be either examinable or non-examinable and are optionally mapped to a System Assessment Type. |
This is a person who assesses students' Assessment Items or who otherwise has a role related to the assessment of students. |

This is a means of classifying assessors. Example: Marker, Tutor, Unit-Chair. |
|
This is assigned to an instance of a Student Unit Assessment Item to indicate the number of times a student has attempted the Assessment Item. |

The cost of hiring the venue. |

Specifies whether or not marks may be recorded when keying results. |

Specifies whether or not the Supervisor is assigned to particular Assessment Item/s within an exam session at a particular venue. |

Specifies whether or not the Supervisor is assigned to a particular venue within an exam session, rather than to one or more particular examinations at the venue in the session. |

This is a grade displayed to students and the public. For example: Official Results, Noticeboards, Academic Transcript or the Callista Connect results application. Internal grades are those used by the institution internally, for example: Academic History. |

File Type |
Corresponds to a Correspondence Type, determining the type of results file produced for publication (for example, file for newspaper). |
Specifies whether or not the outcome for the Student Unit Attempt is finalised. |

This is the numerical value assigned to the Grade for use in calculation of a student's Grade Point Average. |
|
This is a code representing the Grade which indicates the student's level of achievement in the Unit Attempt. Each grade is mapped to a System Result Type. |

This is an electronic results upload configuration setting which defines the action taken by the System when a grade (outcome) already exists in the database for a Student Unit Attempt in the upload file. |

Designates where Unit Attempts with the grade can or cannot be published, for Example: Noticeboard, Newspaper. |

This is an electronic upload configuration setting which defines the action taken by the system when the Grade specified for a Student Unit Attempt in the upload file does not exist in the Grading Schema being used. |

A measure which aggregates grades obtained by a student in a relevant set of studies, and produces an average figure taking into account the total study load attempted. |

Indicates the rank of the grade in relation to other grades within the same Grading Schema. Is used for comparison of grades in rules and for sort ordering in reports. |

When selected displays resolved outcomes when performing a query on Non-Enrolled Student Outcomes. |
This is used to configure the online results keying process. Specifies whether or not invalid Mark/Grade combinations can be keyed. An invalid combination exists when the keyed mark is outside the range of Marks associated with the keyed Grade in the Grading Schema. |

This is the maximum number of assignments (Assessment Items) that the assessor should be allocated. This value is used by the assignment tracking process to limit the number of assignments sent to each assessor for marking. |
|
This is used to configure the online results keying process. Specifies whether or not the two-digit check digit must be entered before a result can be keyed for a student. The check digits are the last two digits of the Person ID. |
|
Learning Management System (LMS) | Institutions may use a Learning Management System (LMS) for assembling and delivering course content, administering student results and consolidation of training initiatives. Student results and data can be transferred between Callista SMS and an institution's LMS. For more information, see the SMS-LMS Interface Help page. |
The length or duration of a Non-Examinable Assessment Item. Examples: an essay with a length of 2000 words, a seminar with a duration of 15 min. |

Indicates the average number of working days required for correspondence to reach an Examination Location using standard mail. |

This is a numerical value which indicates the student's level of achievement in the Unit Attempt. |

This is a minimum and maximum numerical value which designates the range of marks a student can achieve to receive a certain grade. |

Indicates the maximum number of seats in a venue. |

This is an electronic upload configuration setting which defines the action taken by the system if the Person specified in the validation file does not have any recorded Course Attempts. |

Indicates the normal expected minimum and maximum Percentage of student to be awarded the specified grade for a particular Unit Offering. |

This is the name of the examination paper, which is normally printed on the cover sheet of a theory exam. |

This is an electronic results upload configuration setting which defines the action to be taken by the System if a person recorded in the upload file does not exist in the system. |

This is the amount of time allowed for reading the exam paper prior to commencement of the examination. |

When supplementary assessment is granted, it is ususally the outcome of a special consideration application. |
