RESF3110 - Maintain Milestone Types

Purpose

To record an institution-defined set of Milestone Types

SubSystem

Research

Normally Run By Administration specialist
Anticipated Frequency As required
Structure Block Milestone Type

Milestones are used in the Research subsystem, to mark the progress of a Candidature. The milestone types established by an institution indicate the action/stage to be achieved. Notification Day values can be recorded and, in future functionality, will trigger reminders as Milestones approach or are passed.

Milestones (for a research candidature) are set up using the Maintain Candidature Milestones form (RESF3232). A default set of Milestones (for a Course Version) are established using the Maintain Course Default Research Milestones form (RESF3231).

The Milestone Type block contains:

  • Milestone Type
  • Description
  • Closed check box

    Notification Days sub block

    • Imminent
    • Reminder
    • Re-Reminder

Rules/Notes:

This form is used to record the institution's set of Milestone Types.

Select the Closed indicator to prevent future use of a Milestone Type.

Enter values for each type of Notification Day. Enter a number as follows:

  • n Imminent days before the Milestone Due Date.
  • n Reminder days after the Milestone Due Date.
  • Every n days after the Milestone Due Date for Re-Reminders, until the Candidature Milestone's status is changed (in RESF3232).

Until notification functionality is developed, it is recommended that no values be set for Notification Days.

Rules/Notes:

A Milestone Type that has a dependent Course Version Default Research Milestone record cannot be deleted.

Implementation of triggered reminders will be provided in a future delivery.

Modifications to the values for any of the Notification Day fields, affects reminders for any existing Candidature Milestones with the status of 'PLANNED' or 'RE-PLANNED'. This functionality is to be implemented in a future delivery set.

If no value is set for Reminder days, a value cannot be set for Re-Reminder days.
